ian_
Item: Pioneer Pl-1000 turntable with Ortofon Mc-20 mkII cartridge. Location: Sydney Price: $350 Item Condition: Vintage... see Extra Info Reason For Selling: Too many turntables Payment Method: Pick up, COD Extra Info: This has not been used for over 15 years. The moving coil cartridge seems to qualify for a trade in discount with Ortofon, and can be assumed to be of no other value (trade it in, do not use as is). The unit itself is fine, but there is surface corrosion on the buttons and control dial. Should mostly clean off. The exterior of the unit is otherwise does not exactly look new, but it has not had a rough life either. I turned it on and immediately it is clear the main direct drive works as new, reaching 'quartz lock' for speed almost immediately. Same with the linear motor for the arm, it functions perfectly. The buttons all appear to work except for the record size selector, which seems stuck on the standard LP size. Some other buttons took a few presses the very first time but now work, so this button may also repair itself. Now the bad news- but it seems not that bad. The arm lift uses a belt which needs replacing. These seems to be a normal status at this age. Here is a thread discussing what is needed. The "small noise" discussed in that thread can be heard, so it should be that belt. This model was originally sold as 'Phase Linear 8000', with later units being branded Pionerr. You can find info online under both model numbers . Looking on hifi-shark, these seem to sell for around 600 euros still in 2019 but perhaps they replace that belt prior to sale. 2

abelb
I also had one of these. Hard to beat at this price for someone. The belt which controls the arm lifter is also not hard to replace. GLWTS
