They're calling their's Denon Link 4 and the first model to have it is the Universal player DVD-A1UD which, of course, will need a similarly spec'ed receiver. (Though that player at 3300 pounds may not reach NZ!)
bluedog Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 My denon 3910 was givin the thumbs down today as far as repairing debating a new one or selling the panasonic bd 35 and biteing the bullit and going with bd 2500 after all dont no which would sound better on dvd and cd
bluedog Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 Has anyone got a denon 2500 and had a chance to realy listen to it yet ?
Badas Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 bluedog;94285 wrote: Has anyone got a denon 2500 and had a chance to realy listen to it yet ? yeah, I got a 2500 out of the states last week. Awsome player. Really basic. Blu-ray looks and sounds better. Dvd is average to good. Cd's sound great. I have mine going into a Denon 3808 Bitstreamed. Highs: Build quality is awsome. Even the tray is impressive (so quiet). Blu-ray has that real reference look. It really feels like a reference player. Lows: Nothing that can't be overcome. Player was reacting to Denon Dvd 3930 comands. I read the manual and fixed. Updates are a little complicated. Love this player and I landed it here from the states for $900. Ta Dono:)
Badas Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I thought I would give a more detailed review. I have come from the Panasonic BD-30 + 2 PS3 For a start if the Denon uses Panny parts you can't tell. This feels like a completely different player. I would have thought in the "all digital world" most of these players would be equal. Now I am scratching my head and I don't know what Denon have done but there is a marked improvement in picture. I have noticed a sharper more detailed picture and it is a lot more colourful. I don't know if the colour is contributing to more detail. It could be. All my players have been set up using the Blu Digital Essentials. so the are set up all equal. As far as sound. I don't really know DTS-HD-MA sounds awsome. But it did on my Panny also. Build quality is wicked. I love the tray. It has a brushed alluminum front on it which is hinged. So when it opens it is straight. when it is closed if adjusts itself to the angle of the rest of the player. It is Soooo quiet. There is no fan. It has no air holes on top (air holes are down both sides). The drive runs quiet and the unit runs cold after many hours. It feels like Denon have put some pride into this and it is a truly reference player. I have the Denon Dvd 3930 also and watching NTSC discs in the 2500 seem just as good. I have read some average revews on this player for Dvd. It seems just as good as the 3930 to me (may be a little better colour again). As far as Cd's go, I listened to Green Day (21st). Sounded awsome. My 3808 amp engaged the AL24 to the PCM signal and it sounded clean and clear. I'm a happy 2500BTR owner and I will keep this for years to come. Ta Dono:) Equipment used: Projector Cineversum Blackwing 3 DILA, Denon DVD2500BTR, Denon DVD 3930, Denon 3808 AVR, 3 Power conditioners, Speakers all Polk (RTiA7 x 4 L,R,SL,SR, CSP1000 center, 3 subs 2x PSW450, 1 x PSW1200) and the Buttkicker seat shaker system.
bluedog Posted August 13, 2009 Author Posted August 13, 2009 Nice to see some one liked the 2500 i sent mine back .Didnt think the picture was any better than my bd 35 or sound in the hi def stuff. As far as cd play back i hated the sound and dvd music sounded much the same but it may just be my system.I guess i was looking for a big step up from the 35 but imo i didnt get it.Very happy with what i did go with though.I could be getting to fussy in my old age though ;-)

I can't coment on the BD35. But I saw a big improvement. My projector (cineversum) would show it also. I just kept looking at my rack and looking at the terrible build quality of the Panny. I just love that denon look and the improvements was just the icing on the cake. Also getting one from the states all setup for $900 was a bargin in my opinion. Ta Dono:)

Where can you get it from? (other than Harvey Norman). Yes NZ pricing is high. Sometimes you could get special prices but no one is stocking it. I should have said that I am not a CD freak (I'm a blu freak, about 4 movies a week), so I'm not the best 2 channel reviewer:eek: Ta Dono:)
