Fs: 4 Exodus Audio Maelstrom 18" Subwoofers In Large Tuned Vented Box

Featured Replies

Hi Minty, While its Best to use All the same Drivers (Subs) & either All ported or All sealed subs, If room permits & capable Pro Power Amp This could be intergrated pretty easily with careful placement & an EQ that can be adjusted down to 15-20Hz then use Audyssey for LFE time alignment.. ie: 2 SubMersives at the Front "equildistant" & the 4x18" maelstrom sub at the rear.. Run 2 front subs as one & the rear as other assuming your Pre-Pro has 2 separate sub outs With Audyssey XT 32x & HTsub, audyssey would then sum them all together as one..

You'll need to verify the SPL of the drivers in the submersives. Maelstron drivers are 88dB I think.

A big gap in sensitivity with other sub drivers may or may not cause you a problem challenge

You'll also need a a sub plate amp

or

an external sub amp that has bass management incorporated in it.

Or a separate amp & separate PEQ device

How well would these intergrate with 2 SubMersives, what else do I need to run them?

Hey Minty just try bolting them and dynabolting them down onto your foundations to have to whole house shaking butt kicker of sorts, hehe

Lol, the whole house pretty much shakes now, adding this would just crumble it completely me thinks!

Thanks guys, think ill put it in the too hard/not really required basket. Cheers.

I still have this for sale, feel free to make an offer

I take it, all i need is a external power amp? the cables and wiring on the inside is already done? How do you move this around, with a trolley? and do you have to be concerned about the weight and structure of the room?

  • Author

Yes that is right, all you need is a external power amp /or bolt on a plate amp and it will work.

All the cabling is done inside already (in 8ga), I will also configure the wiring to what the buyer would prefer, either (Currently 1ohm), 4ohm or 16ohm load.

Yes it comes with a custom made flat low trolley to move it around very easily.

The weight i have quoted is approx 300kg, I can tell you that the speakers are 100% 100kg for the 4 drivers, the enclosure itself would be approximatley 150kg but would need scales to be 100% on the total weight.

I would not be concerned at all having this weight in a room, it would be the same as 4 people standing in the same spot of a room.

Price now $2500 needs to go.

Open to offers on this, i need it gone!

, if your interested PM or call .

  • Author

now $2300, is any one interested now? what price is someone willing to pay?

I think as Prior mentioned on the first page, if each sub sells for about $500 then that's two grand but I doubt people want the box as its just to big on its own and for car use the design would be quite different.

Most wouldn't want all 4 subs so your better off parting it out I say and ditching the box!

Added to that, there's newer, better subs on the market now.

Part it out, sell each sub for $400 ea.

Cheers,

Chris

I agree with these sentiments.

Technology is worth less as it ages.

Ok, so who is interested in the subs individually @ $500 each??

I will not sell them individually until i have interest in all 4.

I take it these are just the drivers and not any cabinets? Or do you have cabinets for them as well? I mean separate cabinets ;). I wish i could take the large one but i just cant fathom how i will fit it into my current system ,i can probably fit it in a secondary system downstairs but even still would be tight. But i could fit 4 smaller cabinets :)

You mean with the 13 other subs you have.

Mate you may need to seek some professional help

trust me, my family and friends keep saying that :), but its so easy to buy more and so easy to just connect them all up. And it feels like i am upgrading or something...Retail therapy i guess.

I would hate to see your power bill.

I would hate to see your power bill.

I keep getting blamed for the power bill, but i keep insisting that home theatre would not take up that much power, Am i wrong in this regard? I guess my EQs and Seatons subs are always on as they dont go into standby or anything, but all the other subs and amps etc go into standby for the most part. My power bill does insist i have 4-5 more people in the household than we do... :( even though i have solar panels.

Good luck bob. At the current price it is a real bargain for anyone wanting to build a large dedicated ht room. Maybe some custom installers might be interested.

bump for Bob ; everyone should know how well constructed maelstrom drivers are

Yeah, but you need to understand that when you first posted the price, it was well over the top, so you weren't going to get any interest. You were asking double the market for the drivers at the time you first posted over 12 months ago. Now the drivers are worth even less.

You're not giving them away now, it's just that your prices are getting closer to their actual value.

My advice would be to split it all up, trash the box and sell each driver individually here, or on SNA or on Ebay. The value of what you have is not in the assembly as a whole, but in the drivers individually.

I hope you sell them, I really do! They're awesome drivers!

Cheers,

Chris

If i have interest in all 4 drivers then i will separate them reluctantly.

There is not much else on the market that even compares to this unit for the price im asking, so i think the price is very reasonable.

I just need to sell since im moving to a smaller house, other wise i would keep it.

It took me 6 months to design & build this unit, seems such a waste to chop it up.

send some offers through!!
