masterleet1503561330 Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) It's almost here! After 8 months in council (goddam city of stirling!) there is finally a light at the end of the tunel. We're looking at the begining of March for handover. Room dimensions are 4.5m x 3.98m x 2.4m which is far from ideal, I know. But as always, it was about comprimises. The room has a zero wall down one side and a bedroom behind it, but it needed to have a window in it. So the window is between the HT room and the bedroom. This has meant that I can mount the projector on the back bedroom ceiling and remove the window so that I can get a good a TR. Equipment will be: - 3 x Triad Bronze LCR's and 4 matching surrounds (still not sure if im going to go dipole or direct firing or a mix of the two?) - Epson TW5500 - Screen Excellence Elightnor 4k 110" 2.37 Screen. - Panamorph UH480 with r/c sled. - Denon 2808 (want to replace with pre/pro at some point) - SVS PB13 Ultra - Oppo BDP83 Modded I'm still undecided on colours, part of me wants a bat cave and another part of me thinks I should try and make it pretty. Luckily the wife doesnt mind what I do (she got stone bench tops, i get HT room ) Havent found chairs that suit my tastes yet (im 6'2" so I like a high back seat) so if anyone in Perth has any recommendations...... I've got Andrew from Home Theatre Engineering to do the audio calibrating and accoustic treatments once it's done and the pojector once the lamp has settled down a bit. He's been a great help with the planning and I highly recommend him. That's it for now, comments/recommendations a very much welcome. I'll try and include some pics tomorrow Matt Edited January 29, 2010 by masterleet

50mxe20 Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 She's already talking about new couches Ah but that is probably different because it is mutual ground and you will enjoy them too.
dham Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 She's already talking about new couches That is the opportunity you wait to mention about a new subby or speakers or other toys

masterleet1503561330 Posted February 1, 2010 Author Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) You should get a sweet outcome with these guys - HAA members know there stuff. Can you share some details on the proposed treatments? Andrew suggested to get the best result, work out the treatments once everything is in the room, as furniture can have a big effect. But once we're at that stage I'll definitely post some details. That said, I'll be treating behind the screen wall with insulation/acoustic foam to stop boundary gain etc from having the LCR's near a wall. I'm really looking forward to everything getting being setup and done so I can sit down and watch some movies! I picked my HT chairs today. I work near super amart in Ossie park so I thought i'd stop by and see what they had. Checked out the leather ones they have and they're pretty nice for the price. Then sat in some Microfibre ones and they were friggin awesome! $1500 as well! Its their Elderado HT Recliners. Really high backed and really really comfy. Only thing is I would have prefered black, but they're so comfy I dont care Today was a good day Edited February 1, 2010 by masterleet
Hi-Fi Whipped Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Good luck mate, sounds like you will be doing Home Theatre plenty of justice!
masterleet1503561330 Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Good luck mate, sounds like you will be doing Home Theatre plenty of justice! Thanks! It's still a very daunting task as I dont want to get anything wrong, that was the main reason for getting HTE involved. With a limited budget, I can't really afford to get things wrong, so I saw getting a professional to help a good use of my money. This and other forums have been a HUGE help and inspiration. But when it comes to executing those idea's, I feel that I needed someone with real world experience. Matt
masterleet1503561330 Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 Only small updates: Electrician is coming to do his final fit out today and the clean is booked for begining of next week. Got all my paint ready to go once we get the keys Got the Epson yesterday and have been giving it a bit of a run at work to make sure there are no issues (they have a 7 day DOA policy). So far so good! Just about to head to spotlight to see what kind of fabric i can get for my screen wall. Matt
masterleet1503561330 Posted March 24, 2010 Author Posted March 24, 2010 So, lack of updates lately due to the house still not being finished! Should have the keys by the end of the week though so we'll get in and start taping up ready for the painting over Easter. Also, I've had a choice to make with the room. I can no longer afford accoustic treatments AND getting 7.1. So it's 4 surrounds or 2 surrounds and something like the Fonic small room kit (for bass traps, 4 mid traps and 20 tiles). I think im going to go for the latter as but still wire for 7.1 and add the surround backs later. Has anyone got any suggestions for what fabric to do my screen wall in that I can get in AUS and is relatively cheap I've been looking at the Rim Trilogy 1 stuff for wrapping the treatments but was unsure If I should go with something different for the wall?
