oxblood8 Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 yes - it's channel 12.the only thing to watch for is that if something is simulcast on both the high def and std def channels, channel 12 goes blank - and you record on channel 10 instead (the only thing i know of at the moment is afl football). Ahh awesome, in the country OneHD launches tomorrow so am assuming that channel 12 isnt going as yet. I dont mind recording in SD so that pretty much answers my original question, an SD DVD-R would do the trick thank you for all the replies
prl Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I believe the $800 price tag is the reason why. But one of the DVDRs being suggested was in that price range (Panasonic XW-350, $750-800), and I think that the DP-P2 is a better fit to the OP's needs.

Nah $750-800 was never in the price range. Only really wanna got $400 max. Oh wait i see what you are saying, ignore that Edited July 1, 2009 by oxblood8
achw Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 the older pioneer model may suit you - available for $399 from the pioneer clearance centre i linked earlier (looks like the newer model has been sold - it was there this morning...!!) http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Archive...0%20HX%20S.aspx

Hence all the care on Freeview's part about "up to 15 channels" (I've always contended that much of the time "up to" is mediaspeak for "less than"). You should get One Digital in the initial broadcast markets for One HD, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane & Perth, and according to all the Ten press releases, it should simulcast One HD. I think that the "regional capitals", Canberra, Hobart & Darwin, won't get One Digital.

WHERE FROM If you receive ONE via Ten (not Southern Cross Ten) You can record from Channel 1 in HD or Channel 12 in SD If you receive ONE via Southern Cross Ten (not Ten) You can record from Channel 50 in HD There is no SD option available (at present) Paytv viewers have not been considered here WHERE TO Unless you must have a HD copy on a Blu Ray disc then any PVR is suitable for Ten viewers but not SC10 viewers For SC10 viewers you need a HD PVR regardless to obtain a recording Then connect to a standard DVD recorder (either HDD and disc or disc only) to transfer from the PVR to the DVDR Alternatively, a DVDR with a SD tuner is fine for Ten viewers as well. If you need a HD disc copy then one of the Panasonic Blu Ray recorders is your only option today.
prl Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 ...WHERE TO ... For SC10 viewers you need a HD PVR regardless to obtain a recording ... I thought the OP was planning to use his TF7000 HD STB to receive the program, downscale it to SD and feed that to the analog inputs of an SD DVDR, as a way of getting most of the function he wanted at the lowest added cost.

oxblood8 Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Yep thats exactly what I am after. Just have to get a DVD-R now that has 2 inputs for the Toppy STB and Austar.

diesel Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Nah not important at all, i really only do tape NBA and F1 so sound doesnt matter to me All I can add is make sure you get one with a HDD. It adds so much more functionality than recording to discs alone.

Bazzil Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 sorry to bump this thread again, but I have a HD STB with RCA cords running to my DVDR, and then RCA going from the DVDR to the TV (DVDR only has a SD tuner and One is only available in HD here) . Everything works fine, except when I'm using the DVDR to record something the screen goes black (it still records the program fine though). anyone have any experience with a problem similar to this? i guess if all else fails i could use a splitter to have one set of leads from the STB going to the DVDR for recording and another set going directly to the TV

Does it go blank when you are recording the OneHD via the HD STB input, or when recording something using the DVDRs SD Tuner?
Bazzil Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 when recording One through the HD STB. havent tried recording using the DVDRs tuner in this setup, but i have used it without trouble previously.
diesel Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Maybe your DVDR cannot passthrough the signal from an external input whilst it's recording? Does the DVDR passthrough the STB picture OK when it's not recording??
