djOS
But does that also turn itself off when the equipment is turned off or it relies on the PC? Allow me to quote from the project I linked to: The better solution: The do-it-yourself temperature controlInstead of continueing to whine about current solutions, we present a better one. For about $4, you can build yourself a temperature control with the following features: * Temperature can be adjusted by the user. The desired temperature can be adjusted over a wide range, so the control is suitable both for regulating case temperature and CPU temperature. * Fans are switched off if the temperature is low enough * Several fans can be controlled with just one sensor and temperature control. djOS
Btw, if you want to make an even more advanced model using PWM, the 3rd controller on this site will also turn off the fan/s: http://www.bit-tech.net/modding/2001/12/03...an_controller/1 Both of these are pretty easy to make and im sure Jaycar electronics will have all the required parts including prototype PCB's and nice little project boxes to mount them in. bowds
Pics please? Ok, here goes. Firstly, the camera seems to pick up a lot of dust in the shots, or maybe i shouldn't be as lazy... don't tell the missus. So you've got an idea of my setup here's a pic to begin with. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120266.jpg As mentioned at the top of the page, I've got 2x12cm CoolerMaster fans cooling the Onkyo 606 and the same for the PS3 (probably could of just done the ps3 with 1 but anyway). Onkyo 606 Front (Fans Not Visible ) http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120267.jpg Rear http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120260.jpg PS3 cooling Front http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120270.jpg Rear http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120264.jpg Also, i have prepared some vents for when my HTPC is finished (still choosing the internal components) You can also see the rubber i used to eliminate/reduce vibrations HTPC Front (Fans Not Visible ) http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120269.jpg Rear http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120265.jpg Ok so the acutal wiring etc; Pic of the 9v DC Plug Pack http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120263.jpg Pic of the On/Off Switch http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120261.jpg Pic of the wiring to Molex http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120273.jpg Pic of the Molex to 3pin splitter (i will be using this in my HTPC when its finished to power the exhaust fan behind it because its got a PCI bracket, so i'll just need to pick up a simple cable to do the job that is currently.) http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bo...22/P5120274.jpg Or you can view all the photos here; http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk94/bowds1122/
