It has access to the net, so I'll keep trying, can anyone else confirm they are updating to 2.20? EDIT: Hey blacknbrindle, do you have a Japanese or O/S PS3 by any chance? The japan site has it, the Aussie site doesn't... Sony says they have released globally, maybe I just need to be patient unless you have an Aussie PS3, that would make things weird. I can confirm that it updates on AU PS3 consoles, I got the update not long ago without a problem.

Very weird, just tried to update again, no good... Thanks for the link, I'll do it that way, can't understand why internet update is not working though.
Volunteer Kazz Posted March 25, 2008 Volunteer Posted March 25, 2008 Well I've done the update but can't get the resume play to work on bd, haven't tried any sd disc as I don't have any region 3 discs.
sulimo Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 so whats this update do?Anything good? - Support for divx files bigger than 2 GB, which is nice. As is the resume play for BD movies. - Supposedly it now supports divx subtitles. Also handy for some. - And of course BD-Live support. Being able to use the PSP as a remote is also quite handy.
kangamatt Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I have downloaded the new update. Also started watching Michael Clayton, then stopped it, and put the disk back in an hour later, and it started right where i stopped watching.

Bodalenko Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Has to be done with via USB Memory Stick. Definitely 2.20 though. Nothing visual to tell of any changes that I can see.
Denmark1503562188 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 (edited) Still no dts-hd master decoding. But the resume function is great. Edited March 25, 2008 by Denmark
macca78 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 - And of course BD-Live support. I understand saw 4 is the first disc to have this..anybody tested it yet? any good?
Neon Kitten Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 Well I've done the update but can't get the resume play to work on bd, haven't tried any sd disc as I don't have any region 3 discs. I've only tried one BD so far - a couple of discs of Planet Earth - and resume play worked flawlessly even after a PS3 power-down. I wonder how many disc IDs it can store? Pioneer DVD players have done this niftiness for years but are limited to something like the last 5 discs played. I stuck a DVD in to test it but just my luck, the one sitting on the top of the pile was a region 1 disc and I was sitting there trying to figure out why the PS3 simply refused to acknowledge its existence at all Has to be done with via USB Memory Stick. The update via PSN works just fine. Mine took less than 10 minutes all up, download included.
digitalj Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 the update was just done on my brothers' PS3, no mention about MNR, using 1 DVD, it didn't do resume play on it. At Least it now has options for BD Internet Connection (Confirm or allow)
aeon1503559541 Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I got the prompt when I turned my PS3 on last night - takes forever to download the updates via the PS3 though, and the AU site last night was still pointing at the 2.17 Update (at least the page was, the file may have been 2.20) - will update it later tonight.

I am abit confuse about the profile and DTS-MA . Is PS3 can output DTSMA if i have the right REceiver ? At the moment i have Maranzt but thinking about upgrade to new one . THanks

At the moment i have Maranzt but thinking about upgrade to new one . THanks No, at the moment the PS3 CANNOT output DTS-MA no matter what receiver you have. It has been suggested that in the future it will decode DTS-MA losslessly into multi-channel PCM (as it already does for TrueHD). If it that happens, the PS3 will output that multi-channel PCM to any HDMI receiver (again, as per TrueHD). Edited March 26, 2008 by peterjcat

So now we just wait for new firmware update come and and don't need to upgrade received to enjoy DTS-MA
Craig M Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Thank god i bought an PS3 . So now we just wait for new firmware update come and and don't need to upgrade received to enjoy DTS-MA Yep. Outputting as Multi Channel PCM means EVERYONE can enjoy DTS-HD MA. Even those with early HDMI vers 1.1. Craig.
jbl540 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 (edited) I understand saw 4 is the first disc to have this..anybody tested it yet? any good? I just upgraded my firmware & tested out the "Molog" feature on the Saw IV disc. It's very fiddly & so far seems pointless but may have some future use. It basically lets you make comments on scenes from the film & post them the same as a blog(hence the name Molog. Movie Blog!). You can also use images from the move i.e. billy on his trike. to post with your comments as they pop up throughout the film. Funny thing is that you can post ANYTHING on there. One dude has posted an entry saying that this feature is gay! He had more posted but it has been flagged as offensive so is blocked. It will be cool when you can get comments & thoughts posted by those associated with the film though. Edited March 27, 2008 by jbl540
mattis Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Hmm since this firmware update (2.10 -> 2.20) my Jap PS3 has suddenly worked out how to do 7.1 PCM! Very strange (but all good). Matt

I'm trying to update using the USB but the PS3 says it can't find any updates. Does the update file have to be in a specific directory on the USB?? What am I doing wrong?
