  • Hi guys - It’s been a while and my main system has evolved rather a lot since I last updated many years ago. Just sitting here on a wet Melbourne weekend loving the sounds coming from my current itera

do you make a good coffee?????? :P

Indeed I do.

I'm thinking once I get my new speakers and CD player, I might have to have a GTG for constructive feedback on tweaking.

And a glass of red...

well then i'll have to come around and sample the coffee

You're definitely on the list when I do it. Coffee will be freshly ground and brewed fresh on the stovetop.

sounds good mate

This is a hard one to admit here, but its probably worth it for a laugh.

As I originally set up music in this room in 10 minutes of down time I had a couple of years ago when most of my waking hours was wrangling 4 year old twins, or recovering from it - the whole she-bang was kind of slapped together.

As is evident by the only speaker cable I could find at the time, as seen in this pic.

Upgrade to the good stuff last weekend, and this is in the bin.

Am I still in the gang???

pastedGraphic-2.jpg

i think we have all been there mate. No biggie. Some still do it :P

Sorry, no sympathy from me. You should have used a $1000 roll of audiophile-approved electrical tape instead. Gang membership cancelled. :P

what, no cable elevators!!! :D

Gulp, you're one tough rooster Chickenism. But fair enough. The Yugoslavian 0.003% oxygen, $100 per cm tape was an option which I chose not to take.

I did have cable elevators actually prof; the wheel off an old Tonka truck and the uneaten half of a vegemite sandwhich. I've since sold them on ebay for a tidy sum indeed.

Heh, elevators.

The enlightened among us have been using cable levitators for years:rolleyes:

Just saw this thread now.

Great setup there Bunyip! Very good harmony with the room. Kudos to you and your ninth component.

I am happy with any leftovers coffee, you know what I mean?

Cheers Nelly. The configurations is pretty new - one month or so with the whole system set up properly - and we are loving it. We now spend most evening in there listening to tunes rather than plonked on the couch watching the boob toob (other than Spicks and Specks). It's our favourite room in the house.

By the way - I replied to your PM as well.

Really nice cosy looking room Bunyip. Just one thing that has thrown me a bit though:confused:.............I always took you for a bloke!

Hi Bunyip,

Very tastefully set up room you have there, looks great.

Maybe you could call it your man cave , rather than boudoir.

As others have said shame you are not allowed to have the B&W's on stands. Maybe you could construct some heavy and well braced 'box' stands, same footprint & height as the speakers, and sit or secure the speakers atop, so that visually they approximate floorstanders (a la Duntech DSM15). Sonically that would be way better than on the floor, but may be too much effort ... and maybe less fun than hunting for some floorstanders.

Cheers,

Ed

Cheers Perth. If the 602s were staying, I'd definitely do something like you're suggesting. My new PMC GB1is are on a ship on their way to me from England as we speak. So, I;m not too worries.

I was thinking Bunyip's Billabong - but really doesn't seem right for the room.

I guess this little Bunyip is just a big girl's blouse!

Either that, or really it's Mrs Bunyip's Boudoir and I'm just the DJ...

PMC floorstanders, nice

Best i can come up with is Bunyip's Bunker :)

Bunyip's Bordello?

Bunyip's Bordello?

Me thinks not Bunyip.............the connotations are far weirder than for boudoir I'm afraid! No offence meant either in my earlier post Bunyip but I have three daughters and when they were growing up they all referred jokingly to their bedrooms as their 'boudoirs'..........as soon as I read the thread title I was looking for a girl's bedroom:p

The PMC GB1 speakers look great but I'm a little biased because I'm using 5.5" mid bass units in a two way floorstander design too................mine aren't TLs though. The PMCs should work really well in your room and their relatively slim footprint should allow perhaps a bit more flexibility either side of the fireplace.

Cheers,

Keith

No, no you're right Keith. And no offence taken in the slightest.

And now you've got me thinking that I have to come up with the right name.

Bungalow?

Bazaar?

As for the GB1is, I feel like a kid waiting for christmas. Have you heard them? The transmission line produces remarkable bass in such a small speaker. And yes, if I can get them to work on either side of the fireplace - it will be perfect - even if I have to "park" them on the fireplace when I'm not listening.

Don't worry, as soon as they arrive and are in place - the photos will be updated.

I like Bungalow actually Bunyip!:(

I'd heard of PMC loudspeakers before and mainly from reading UK HI Fi Mags to be honest and I looked up the GB1s and could see they are very similar to my own DIY floorstanders in that they're both 2 way designs using 5.5" drivers which gives a very narrow baffle and small footprint. I'll bet the bass response you're getting is sensational especially given the use of a TL design because what I'm experiencing is remarkable from a BR design.

Cheers,

Keith

Hello cheeky (sounds like the start of a Carry-On film doesn't it!)

One vote for bungalow - noted!

Do you have your setup posted in the showcase? I'd love to take a look at those speakers.

To be honest - I'd never even heard of PMC until I started auditioning, and I really wanted a couple of the other contenders to win my ears over. But these babies just nailed it for me. I'd never heard of TL technology either. Boy it works though.

Are you coming to the wine and cheese GTG at Moots?

Oh, and I'm thinking:

Bunyip's Bodacioutorium.

Bunyip's Brothel?

Oh Mondie - you had to didn't you?

Actually, that's what a Bordello is. Actually, with the beer I just drank, I could call it

Bunyip's Burpinghaus
