emh101 Posted June 30, 2007 Share Posted June 30, 2007 I too am interested as to when they will be released as I will be buying in about 4months time. I sent Pioneer an email enquiring as to the release and their response was to email their Pioneer June 2007 electronic update which made no mention of the new TVs nor any TV for that matter. A response saying they don't or can't give me information would have been better. Oh well one can only live in hope. emh101 Posted July 1, 2007 Share Posted July 1, 2007 Well I stopped off at JB Hifi (Kedron) today while I was out to look at the plasmas and the Pioneer 507 look awesome. Surprisingly the LG looked very good considering it was an LG but I do realise they are not calibrated properly when shown in store. The main reason for my post thou is that I asked when were they expecting the 8th gen screens (508) and the chap mentioned December. :-( this is along way away considering they are on sale in UK, US and Canada already. No doubt we will be fortunate to be offered the screens at a much higher price as well. I guess the only positive is I have more time to save money. Only problem is I need the next two years worth of tax cheques to afford the initial price. I hope it won't be too high. It does look like a thing of beauty and a black stand as well. They are saying that this screen is such a massive leap forward for plasma that they weren't even going to call it a plasma screen at first!!!! Looks like they changed their mind, but have added the Kuro name to it to highlight the leap forward in performance...... The patented technology that will make this screen so special was apparently discovered by accident in the Pioneer lab!!!! So this probably explains how the other companies have been left behind a little. They are now calling this screen the CRT/SED/LCD/LASER tv killer, so has alot to live up to. From the oversea's reviews now starting to appear it seems this is not just marketing hype, and the 508 really is a major turning point in tv performance. I guess time will tell. And its a mater of wait abit longer or go ahead and buy whats available. I am thinking of buying a screen within 2 to 3 months time so at this moment im just checking up whats best for money.
