NO LONGER AVAILABLE: Elektra Theatre 7 On Ebay

Featured Replies

Just saw this on Elektra Theatre 7 on ebay...

I will be joining club elektra but unfortunately not at this time. I currently rent - so I'm going to put up with my current system for 6-12 months until we buy, then once I choose a house (solely based around a good listening room of course) I'll take another $10-15k onto the loan for a sound system

Someone else may pick one up for a decent price though... Although I'm not sure what people manage to get them for new...

Also this is not mine and I have no idea who is selling it - so any questions to me on it will be answered fancifully

Damn, someone will get a bargain there, wish it was me.

hope its kosha. sale is from someone with no ebay history. woudl be worth asking atleast the serial no and place of purchase to check units history. if buying locally could pay a visit to check out personally and pay on pick up.

Good idea Al, BTW I was thinking about where I could put it, and then realised I don’t have any money to pay for it.

If it's still in its box and unopened, I would try taking it back to the store for a refund rather than going straight to ebay. The other question I have is, how much can you get off RRP when you are buying one from a store? Not sure if the $3k sell price is close to a store bought discounted price or not.

The only problem I see with this logic is that this unit is not a current model if in fact it is a Theatre 7, so I’m guessing it has been in storage. Elektra gear is not generally stocked by resellers, and is usually ordered as required.

Looks to be called a "Theatron" on the ebay listing so it can't be any older than my model 3rd quarter last year as that was one of the first Theatrons....

Ahh it is too, I was working off the title of this thread and not the eBay advertisement.

Thanks for the correction.

Not sure if the face plate changed when it changed to Theatron but the picture on Ebay shows "Theatre".

The description is also "Theatre 7" however I am unsure if there was any change in specs between the Theatre and Theatron models. Maybe just a cut and paste job.

No option for cash on pick up either.

hmmm

I picked up my brand new theatron a couple of months ago for 3k including shipping. Think more could be procurred too aswell as other elektra models for similar discounts..........probably shouldn't post this on an open forum........

cheers

This is something I'd seriously consider if I wasn't going to Germany/Italy tomorrow. I'm not going to make a rash decision in the heat of the moment right now. There'll be others.

If you were the seller why wouldn't you allow cash on pickup.

Jimmy, thanks for posting that, although I know it's not typically the thing to do. But it puts things in perspective as to whether the ebay deals are actually good value or not.

The ebay auction only has the payment option for direct bank deposit. I didn't say that you can not pay cash on pickup - I said there was no option for cash on pickup on the auction. There is also no option for paypal.

one of the problem with direct bank deposits is that once you do the transfer as one of the guys on dtvforum found out, it cannot be reversed. Infact the bank wont even tell you who the money went to. You have to take up legal action, file police reports and what not to try get your money back if you dont end up getting any goods in return. This would be a real risk especially given the guy has no ebay history. Atleast with paypal you have some protection and also if using yoru credit card via paypal imagine you'd have some protection there as well. For somethign like this I'd want ot be pickign up personally and paying for it on the spot once eye ball'ed the goods.

Yeah - direct deposit only always makes me a little dubious (especially with no previous history). I guess someone who is interested would do well to ask a lot of questions and want to get landline and mobile numbers and an address/details etc before parting with any cash. Also getting stuff in writing may be handy shoud the need arise to chase up anything with the police.

I didn't say you did champ. I am pretty sure I am quoting SOMEONE ELSE.

Why don't you try messaging the seller to see if it can be picked up.......not rocket surgery. In fact I believe that is what the seller asks prospective buyers to do.

cheers

James

the seller said it can be picked up - I sent them a message last night!

good stuff.

well these amps are good value at 4k so if someone can pick one up for 3k still in the box with no use etc then they have themselves a good deal in my humble opinion. I doubt it will be around for long. The fact that someone spotted in straight away and posted here shows they are searched for regularly.

cheers

Sorry Jimmy - wasn't having a go at you, was just trying to clear up that the website had no option for cash on pickup.

I would obviously message the seller if I were to purchase it. It is indeed not rocket surgery

Looks like someone is interested and has done exactly that. They might be able to negotiate a lower price too since the add says delivery is included in the price and they would be picking it up. Not sure how you would go about a lower price given that it is a buy it now rather than auction, but I assume the seller could take the item down and sell privately.

that is ok mate. I had my roid injection this morning just before the workout. Tends to get the testosterone levels a bit high.

yeah, sounds like the poor fella might be desperate to sell if he just bought it, did not use it and must now sell.

Hopefully someone got a good bargain.

cheers
