Is There Stb That Displays What Resolution Is Being Broadcasted?

Featured Replies

I have only ever owned one STB a Phillips DTR7200 and it does not display what the channel i'm watching's current output is. It would be handy to be able to know what the best output to use for each program is rather than just using 1080i all the time even when is only a 720p broadcast.

7HD=576P, ABCHD=720p, the rest=1080i (hmm, SBSHD is probably 576P)

There should be a button on your TV panel's remote to display input res.there is on the Panasonic panels.

It displays Res. from most inputs BUT,not from Foxtel,I guess they don't want you to know.

Cheers.

Hmm, I don't think that was the question, and you've not mentioned any of the myriad of regionals.

The PC application DNTVLive has this capability. But I expect this isn't what you are asking either.

The OP wants to know what the broadcasters resolution is - not what's coming out from the STB

the TEAC HD 820 box will feed the TV the native res of the broadcast.

Sony DSTHD500 has an 'information' button which displays info on what is showing, as well as the resolution of the signal being broadcast.

Ch 10 is the best looking. Seven is usually 576p though sometimes 576i. I don't get how they can even call it HD. It's not. 576p is EDTV. Even ABC has a higher resolution than that.

The Topfield 7000 does FYI. Tonymy01 is correct in his post.

Top boxes which send the native resolution that the TV station is transmitting (known as the auto mode)

will display the res on the TV screen. Well I know that my Panny 104a hd stb did.

If you have a HD Set Top Box connected to a Widescreen Trinitron Flatscreen CRT TV, what is the recommended resolution to select on the Set Top Box for best picture. Please advise. Thanks.

If it's a SD screen, 576I

If it's an HD screen, whatever matches the transmission and TV specs.

Try all output resolutions and use the one which looks best.
