So, all those ppl that think watermarks are no big deal, how many can they add before you will change your mind?

Screen full of Watermarks

Its almost a bit like spot the content and if you happen to have it full screen or on analogue, then they are even larger and in your face.

PS. No wasn't watching it, just noticed during channel flicking, I watch quality content, not watermark ridden junk.

hey.. at least they're not completely opaque, like the ones in the States and some cable companies

I wouldn't be surprised if one day, they start scrolling during movies, the weather around Australia and News snippets down the bottom of the vision!

Maybe they should have another overlay and have their names stamped on their forehead and move with the head where ever it is on the screen.

Well, of course the channel 7 news already does that during its sport. So just like 1 watermark leeds to many more (both all over other stations and they "breed" on the same channel), I have no doubt scrolling text and plenty of other things are yet to come.

Santa: sorry, no idea who he is/was, and just like I don't care that it was on 9, nor do I care it was on ACA and I couldn't give a stuff it was an exclusive, I equally don't know and don't care who he is. And funny enough, I won't have any sleepless nights wondering about it either

To make it even worse, they could cover actor's faces with ads, block/interrupt the sound with some announcements/annoying screeches, or put something on the screen that moves and flashes so crazily that it causes seizures and epileptic fits.

They wouldn't go that far since complaints would go through the roof.

IMO, those ACA watermarks aren't all that bad, maybe because my mind "filters" them out after a while.

ACA is junk with or without watermarks.

Anyway that's nothing, have a look at nexx's screencap of Insiders. THAT'S when watermarks get extreme.

Not long until commercial TV looks like a bloomberg feed..but with ads instead of stock tickers.

The ABC gets my vote for the worst watermarking:

hah, thats a classic. What were you saying Winno, they would never go that far because complaints would go through the roof!!!!!

Well, it happened with the ABC and when you do complain you get told to eitehr get use to it or don't watch. Its much the same with that Big Brother debate, if you don't like it, don't watch it.

Now, I don't know about you, but I find that amazing. Imagine just about any other industry tell its "customers" that if you don't like the product/service, etc to just go away.

Well, as they say, be careful what you wish for

like i said, we don't have the worst ones:

Alias: http://img165.echo.cx/img165/91/alias0ab.jpg

Andromeda: http://img229.echo.cx/img229/3928/andromeda2vb.jpg

Angel: http://img229.echo.cx/img229/3543/angel9es.jpg

Smallville: http://img229.echo.cx/img229/7264/smallville8eb.jpg

Stargate SG-1: http://img229.echo.cx/img229/1070/stargatesg18eq.jpg

X-Men Evolution: http://img229.echo.cx/img229/2228/xmen4zc.jpg

All of them, except for Alias, are shown throughout the whole epsisode.. that alias one is only shown after breaks... the X-Men Evolution one has TWO logos on the top right and bottom right.

Hehe, maybe we should reintroduce the debate about BURN-IN on our displays. Although stations won't care about it, at least they will hear our voice...

To be fair the TV14 logo isnt a watermark but the show's rating..standing out is probably a good thing to warn parents about the show...but then it dissapears and the ABC watermark comes up

yeah.. the abc watermark is actually quite transparent

It also doesn't bounce around the screen. At least we still don't have that.

That ABC Insiders screen is pure hilarity! I'd like to see that footage shown on Lateline or something, that would probably add another 2 watermarks...

Shows the ABC is unprofessional and inept.

What about "Taken" - the idiots ran a promo 10 mins in from start promoting some other show, way before a commercial came - just to shyte us off!!!

Watched about 5 seconds of "Taken", got irritated by the stupid little girl constantly narrating. I believe Thoughtless Housewives has the same constant, stupid narration.

I'll tell you why they're unprofessional!

They're government funded and doesn't really want to be popular, but watermarking the programs is pretty smart because a program on the ABC is almost like another commercial network's program

P.S Brits would praise the ABC because the BBC's watermark sometimes turns up on people's heads or 2 watermarks (completely untransparent) would pop up in all 4 corners

Bugger the BBC!
