Hitachi Plasma Help

Featured Replies

Ive posted this question before had no replies.

I have just bought a 42PD5000TA and the panel itself is awsome so far i have a few issue relating to the inability to get rid of the pinkish flesh tones.

In simple terms its lacking brown and is just to red/pink. I can get rid of this even after days of fiddling with all the avaliable colour settings.

Im wondering if i can adjust or fix this problem by accessing the service menu and fiddling there.

Does anyone know how to get access into this menu?

Shark,

Can you tell me if you get it just on DTV or also on DVD playback?

Also is it most noticeably unbalanced on the 7 HD loop? (few comparison points from loop: red cars in porsche museum - red/orange boats on beach - orange tarps in Dubai waterfront - spinning ride in amusement park) How would you describe these?

Now in the 9 loop are the colours more natural? How would you describe the reds such as house/barn roofs in vancouver, on container boat, flowers in park?

What STB and component or RGB?

The STB is the Toshie 23A. With all the loops on 7 and 9 all the other colours like the barn, cars infact everything is spot on except for skin tones.

It seems like if i want natural skin tones i sacrifice the reds on thing slike the cars etc.

But i have found the best balance and still the skin tones are just a bit barbie doll plasic and blurred for my liking.

Channel 9 HD Loop is by far the best pic i get even DVD's suffer the same fate, bit pinky plastic looking.

My connections are simply component but top end monster cables. DVD player Onkyo 501 and that is also component but using accoustimass cables. (I think thats right)

Last night though on stingers motion artifacts were really bad, looked like once the face moved it become all solarised/pixelated.

I dunno Im startring to give up. I still havent had any luck getting into the service menu.

Hmm , ok well perhaps not what I was thinking Shark ...

I was thinking it might have been a STB or DTV related issue going by the many threads about red issues I have read in the STB forums section but if you get it on DVD as well then I am not sure.

Ok - what about getting a hold of one of the DVD's that feature picture calibration.

I plan to get one of these myself to fine tune things better once I update my DVD player as there are simply so many options in the Hitachi picture menus that I feel certain I have not achieved the best as yet.

Thanks for all the advice.

I believe after all the tweaking the colour are ok and im able to live with it.

The only problem now is when watching SD material for example it might be ok then go to HD and the colours are different again, but thats ok ill adjust to get the balance between the two.
