I’ve had this unit for approx. 1 year purchased new from the classified (it’s my 2nd Aurelic Aries Mini) & it’s now been replaced with the PS Audio DirectStream Jnr via it’s Bridge II.

I nearly kept it as it’s a pretty close run thing Vs the Bridge II via the USB input on my DSJnr but ROON Via the Bridge does pip it…& so it should for the massive leap in $$$$. Adding the REGEN USB device, then a LPS for the REGEN plus moving to the Elijah Audio USB cables all made a positive effect on SQ.

Can deliver audio through analogue outputs (using an internal ESS Sabre 9018KM2 DAC chip) or via USB (this is how I connected it) or coaxial SPDIF.  It also allows you to add an external hard-drive (I used the Samsung T3 500 GB also FS). It also has the capacity for an internal HDD or SDD (Auralic recommends and SSD & I run a 500 GB in my other mini that I’m keeping). There is a marginal gain in SQ with an internal SSD.

The device also supports AirPlay and Bluetooth and most formats including DSD plus bit perfect or DSD over PCM. It creates a cache of your library of music and acts as a DLNA server (I used minimserver & JRiver…I’m no tech head but I set this up easily).

It can also stream across WIFI or Ethernet from a remote library though I’ve never tried this feature.

I would characterise the sound as very clean (very low jitter, especially with the REGEN) and detailed but not in the least bit fatiguing or “digital” and I found them very engaging. It certainly sounds great powering either my Wyred4Sound or Primare system (which is not a warm amplifier system) so it does not tend towards a cool sound by any means but you can alter the treble character with the variable filters to your taste & requirements.

This system is easily set up via their Lightning DS server app (iPad or iPhone only) and then you can use a multitude of Android or IOS app’s to control it or use Lightning DS which is very nice on the iPad.

I found the Mini to be very versatile & it sounds fantastic for the $$ – it has happily streamed music to my PS Audio NuWave & Pulse Infinity 2.0 DAC’s via USB reliably but you do need a relatively good wifi network for the Lightning DS app.

I do believe that Auralic are a bit bashful about fully promoting the virtues of this device as I think they fear it will cannibalise their more expensive units! Although I’ve not heard the other devices, for a simple streamer, it would be hard to justify spending a great deal more money when this thing sounds so satisfying…unless you want ROON via Bridge II which costs !!.

Elijah Cables

http://www.elijahaudio.com/products.html

Hand built in Adelaide, South Australia
All wiring is Audience Cryo CU and/or Mundorf Silver/Gold solid core.
Katoen Interconnects use either Eichmann Cu Bullet plugs or Neutrik Au XLR plugs.
Cardas Quad Eutectic solder is used on all Elijah products.

Konvertible lite Cable (160mm)

The first USB cable to have a detachable 5V lead – now you can unplug the Vbus before or during playback without requiring two USB “A” ports at the source.
The DATA is transmitted via a twisted pair of premium Mundorf Silver/Gold solid core wires in silk sleeving.
The Audience Cryo Cu fixed Gnd and detachable 5V leads are longer and curve away from the DATA wires to eliminate any interaction between them.
The 2.1mm DC barrel connector utilises the centre pin for 5V power, allowing the barrel to act as a shield.
An insulated DC barrel “blocker “ plug is included, to be used when the 5V lead is unplugged, blocking any 5V emanating from the exposed centre pin.

Isolate CU (500mm)

Specification - DATA and GND, No 5v Power

Our first product, and still very popular – If your DAC or spdif Converter is externally powered, you may be able to utilise the ISOLATE cable.

Breeze Audio LPS

This is the thread from CAP that created the ground swell!

https://www.computeraudiophile.com/forums/topic/25665-optimal-lps-voltage-to-power-regen/

My understanding is that you can vary the voltage on my unit but I’ve not done this, It is set to 9 Volts which is higher than recommended but many people suggest this is best setting so I left it.
