I have not dealt with the new importer, so I won't comment. Pierre has been very good to me in the past. With Pierre, it was a 50% deposit to lock in the deal. Often, it is the exchange rates that play a key role in the dealings. I usually paid him in full, which was a reason he took me seriously and was very switched on. I suppose you need to break the ice with the first transaction. When I first stepped into Pierre’s shop, a quick glance and insecurity left a lone attendant asking what I needed.

Personally, I won't import grey-market audio gear anymore after my DC-37 incident 13 years ago. No one here can fix it. I ended up selling it to Doncentric for $4k or less, and he fixed it for himself. It was a $12k unit at the time. There’s so much stress when things go wrong.

I was inquiring on the Accuphase Power Supply as well and I have been told that Accuphase doesn't make them with the Australian Sockets, but the European ones. And if you get the Australian ones installed by a local technician you void the warranty. Strange...

There is a Youtube "review" of the PS550 in New Zealand and they mention that they get their authorized technician to do it and it's fine...

That's right. My Accuphase order would have been for the US type outlets as I only use US type power cables. But that's not happening now. The TELOS comes with US type outlets so that's all good for me.

Last night, I spent some quality time listening between my turntable and DIY audio server.

N1 + PS1 + G1X might see that turntable get less quality listening time.

The proof is in the listening. 😊

Just as a point of reference I'm quite sure that N1 + PS1 + G1X would sound as good as, or more likely better than, my N1T + D1XSE + G02X. And cheaper too.

I hope you're right! However, the logic doesn't add up. Why would any maker agree to a disadvantageous commercial deal with a lower financial return?

G1X is a much better clock than G02X. D1XSE is a marginally better DAC than the G2 DAC in N1. That G1X is going to lift the N1 system more than the G02X lifts the N1T/D1XSE system. And you also need to factor in the two extra clock cables which are going to add another $6K to the N1T/D1XSE system price.

According to the Australian distributor's retail store website, they are supplied with Australian sockets...

I really like the look of the Accuphase product, and its EMI noise reducing performance blows away any competitor product I have measured. However if they are not prepared to demo it in store, yet they still want to charge me RRP for box shifting, my response to that is to place an order somewhere else for something else.

So you've had one of these in your possession and measured? What was your measurement technique? What did you measure against? Always looking at cool products that do as they advertise.

1. Yes.

2. Plug in the meter and note the reading. Simple as.

The Accuphase is an order of magnitude better at reducing EMI compared to any other power product I have measured.

When I was measuring before and after units like the Isotek Genesis One and Mosaic Genesis, I was looking at Total Harmonics Distortions both in the Voltage domain and in the Amperage domain(with load obviously), the Voltage itself and the sign-wave. You can see here pictures of before and after the unit. The THD is not only reduced, but also pushed on higher order harmonic frequencies, that don't influence the sound as much.

I think the wave is still distorted in the example here, but I was just showing what I was measuring

found it very interesting, if not a bit controversial.

which bit in it is controversial?

I think these are all well known facts. 😉

I prefer the DSD format over PCM for the same track mastered in the same studio and using the same technique. All my music is upsampled to DSD256. I also notice that power cables, speaker cables, and interconnect cables make a difference. With the recent new cartridge, I love my turntable more and find it more engaging when listening to the black disc. I find the black disc to offer more resolution, better dynamics both macro and micro. But most of all, the spatial holographic sound from the black disc is closer to real-life performance, which I attend quite often, than a good digital playback. Digital still feels more two-dimensional rather than a three-dimensional realism.

So for me, as a trained, qualified, and practising engineer working with many electronics, electrical, and mechanical colleagues, I found this article shares their perspectives. A perspective that is tired of trying to enlighten them until they actually journey themselves or have the funds to experience firsthand, speaking on a theoretical basis is only half cooked. So, as much as they want theoretically, the proof is in the listening.

An old man, once told me this "The danger in you don't know what you don't know and think you know it all."

I'm really enjoying this N1T + D1XSE + C1X combination. It's beyond incredible. And isn't this hobby totally crazy???  I'm listening to $200K electronics sitting in an $80K rack driving $250K amps/speakers and I'm listening to free lossy Spotify and the sound is thoroughly enjoyable. And I collect empty drink containers on the side of the road to claim the 10 cent deposit at the recycling depot. Lucky my psychiatrist is free.

People must drink a lot around your area for you to collect so many drink bottles.LOL🤣

I have a 19 year old son living at home...admitted to Fiona Stanley hospital with acute alcohol poisoning on the weekend. I found him asleep on the road at 2am. So yeah, many drink bottles to collect around here.

Effectively from June next year (2026), spirit and wine bottles will also be included... 10c that is. Perhaps a monthly trip to my audio room could help with your high-end acquisitions? 🙂😊

Wow, thats terrible. I hope he's ok and can learn from this. All the best.

Chanh, with all your wine bottles, you will easily be able to get the Esoteric and the new monoblocks. lol

A quick walk around the room, I manage these many. Definitely by next year, I could save enough for the upgrade.

Thanks for your kind sentiments, but his situation is far more challenging than that and it occupies a lot of my time dealing with the fallout.
