The lock down is for 6 weeks. Are you sure few bottles can last that long?

Chanh, this was back in May, and we still haven't heard if it sounds good, or is just something pretty and XE?

Mine got to Melbourne yesterday. Any others in the country yet?

Have been using it with great satisfaction.

Good to hear!

Ah yes, good old YouTube - it always makes my system sound better (afterward).

Wondering what happens if the clock in this card is better than the one in the DAC that follows - can only be good, I suppose.

And both the DAC and XE card will have no power (5V) connected - wondering if I should finally give the snip to that part of my USB cable, to avoid anything getting passed through the ground part.

My Accuphase DC-950 doesn’t need 5Vdc via USB port to get handshake.

Right, and the XE has jumpers which can be removed, so the 5V doesn't even get to the XE's USB connector.

Question is:  should we leave the 5V and power-ground part of the USB cable intact, or remove them?

The power-ground could form a harmful loop, or pass noise, or maybe it could be useful, acting as a 'drain wire' (connected at one end only) and be helpful?

Not sure if any of that makes sense - it's just what's going on in my head while I wait with great patience.

I found when disable 5Vdc via the card, it yields better SQ. Issue is, if your USB to I2S needs 5vdc to get the handshake (engaged), best power the card with decent LPSU.

I used Salas Shunt to power the USB card with great result. It performed better than standard Uptone JS-2 and noticeable margin to the so called Uptone SuperCAP psu.

Salas Shunt looks like a great way to go, if you know what you're doing, and insurance is not an issue. I'll have to stick to ready-made LPSs. Don't mind my JS-2s at all, although I'd love some power bulges on them :thumb:.

My XE card turned up today, and after a bit of adjustment (easier than Shaar), fitted in well. No issues getting it to sing, and wow, it's good.

With no warm-up, I had great sounds. Really deep and structured bass, clarity through the whole spectrum, instruments appearing effortlessly, in more defined places, etc.

I'll save you from the YouTube experience ?.

Do you believe in burn-in? I found card will sound even more natural and much more musical after few weeks of using.

You can build Salas Shunt regulator to accomodate 0.8A @ 5vdc. I have been using it for most of my builds to other SNAers with great acceptance.

Yes, I do, and this card is getting more fluid after 50 or so hours. Sounds like I've bought a new C-3900 ?.

There's a lot to read on Salas Shunt - can you make this easier by providing a link to a kit? I'd need advice on the transformer too - the whole thing.
