nice work

how did the costings work out?

I paid the coffee table seller $50 to end the listing early once I saw the potential.

There were 2 days left and it was 3 bucks., I reckoned I could risk 50 on it being what I thought it was.

I then ordered the glass, $208 from Sydney Glass.

6mm toughened, grey tint.

I also bought some tools that I did not previously have but I love amassing tools in the hope I can one day make something nice on a regular basis.

I have made this with the memory of 1 or maybe 2 woodwork classes at school.

Sorr to digress.

The total cost was about $275

I am incredibly happy and very surprised that my idea paid off.

I had confidence in finding old furniture to repurpose as hifi furniture but who knew how long it would take.

I must have looked at 10k items for sale and then I found this.

I admire your "lateral thinking" - it was brilliant seeing the potential of putting the coffee table on its end. I like the way the stain makes it match your vintage gear. Youve also saved a tree somewhere from being cut down.  Well done.

Thanks Nada

In truth, the quality of this Aussie Native Hardwood is incredible. (Said with no wood experience)

I purchased the table on Sunday and got it home.

I got the sander out  and started a little area out of interest, I wanted a quick glimpse of what was underneath.

It was so addictive uncovering it I just kept going.

This needed so little done to it.

I had a vision of finding something that probably did not exist, without the subsequent work.

Anyway I have the last system....;O)
