Re-listing classified ads - reminder

Featured Replies

We understand that all members posting ads in our classified section read the guidelines, as requested.

There is one section, however, that seems to get skipped:

AUTOMATIC ARCHIVING | REPOSTING OF ADS
Advertisements are automatically archived after 120 days (unless reported Sold earlier). Do not post duplicate advertisements within 30 days of your previous advertisement.
If you wish to relist your ad after 30 days, please report your previous advertisement, and moderators will mark it as "relisted". If this is ignored, all duplicate advertisements may inadvertently be deleted.

This rule simply makes it a level playing field and fair for all members. It also applies to ads that have been withdrawn.

If you suddenly find that your ad has been deleted, please note the above and re-list after 30 days.

Thanks for your co-operation.

Will there be a future option that allows us to choose a specified time or something like an automatic relist function without resorting to reporting our advertisements?

For e.g. I make a listing that is for 30 days. Unless marked as sold or item not available we can choose to relist without reporting it for a relist.

@@Marc is the only one able to answer that one but I suspect that we are restricted by the forum software.

so to be perfectly clear - after 30 days, in order to relist i have to rewrite the ad?

Yes, but first report the original ad as re-listed. In forming the new ad, you can simply copy and paste info from the original.

You can just cut and paste as most do. Though just a suggestion if it ain't sold in 30 days, probably a good time for a re think :)

not necessarily always the case.

higher priced items dont always sell quickly due to people not having readily disposable funds.

I know with my pre amp, many want it, just no available funds.

my TT first few times advertised nothing, next time advertised at same price, snapped up straight away.

yes, some may be overpriced, and some may just be of no interest to the audience here.

Sometimes, as happened to me also, people miss the for sale thread and purchase brand new

Its just a matter of timing and luck

I should have added, and this is a totally different matter to re-listing,

it has started to become habit again, were people white ant for sale threads again.

Its happening more often especially with higher priced items. Pointing towards other alternatives, or i can get it brand new for x amount, etc etc.

Or people just posting because they want to see pics, but have absolutely no interest in the item thats for sale

I do wish Marc would bring back the other format were you could not post in the for sale thread. You interested, you contact the seller...end of story.

would be allot less work for the mods having to clean up threads all the time also

That system was a failure. We tried it, and it didn't work from a number of different perspectives.

As for white-anting, yes I agree it has crept back in again. New members join and don't realise this is not permitted.

However those we find, and those posts that are reported are acted upon.

Yeah, at the end of the day it's no biggy. It's a free resource that so many people (me included..buy my speakers you insular snobby bastards) make use of.

Yes we get carried away sometimes dumping on a thread or having a laugh and chasing some craic and noobs are always making faux pa's [sic] in them but...stuff gets sold, people make money and dump their stuff for the next user to use as we advance and retreat up the gear ladder.

Fair dinkum white anting is  a rarity but unintentional white anting happens all the time. KEF LS50's are a case in point, been round for a fair while now and were flavour of the month and that month just keeps extending each year. I've PM'd sellers and told them they are dreaming at their price point, other members with less post but sometimes more tact have pointed out in the thread that your asking price is rubbish.

Experience and the odd nudge from one of the hounds here(Mods ;) ) soon straightens you out.

End of the day?

It works, yes it breaks now and again but it always gets fixed.

Just a clarification on this topic of re-listing from some recent activity in this area.

If you list multiple items in one ad and some sell, you still need to wait the 30 days before you can start a new ad for the remaining items.

Simply edit your original ad when this occurs.

Better still, post a separate ad for each item.

Thanks for your co-operation  :thumb:
