My SAECO auto coffee machine is sick

First noticed a small leak and it was making some funny noises at switch on, then while trying to froth the milk (it is an auto machine with built in frother) it reverted back to adding water to the froth.- not good. Then when dispensing the coffee into the cup it made funny noses again and added too much water to the mix. The coffee mixer is usually adjustable, but not anymore since the problems began..

I'm not a real big coffee head, but I do like my one cappuccino a day so this is not good

Took it to pieces and fixed the slight water leak it had and gave the whole insides a good clean, but the major problems are still happening.

Anyone else had one of these machines with these problems?

I know the earlier version of the Magic used to have problems after a couple of years if you didn't release the pressure from the frother before powering off the machine. But I'm guessing you may have had this for a number of years - not a recent purchase? Some of the bits in these home machines don't last more than 10 years (reliably, that is, some last for many decades).

Service - or look for a similar one on eBay for $150

Can't help you there but did notice on one of my trips when staying at the Old Lion in North Adelaide there was a coffee machine repair business on the main drag there. I find Adelaide is excellent for coffee so I'm sure you have multiple technicians there that can get her purring again.

Thanks fellas for your input.

Yes this machine probably is getting too old as it was given to me a few years a go when a relative upgraded to some really flash expensive machine.

It got me addicted to my, at least one cappuccino a day, for the last few years.

Can't afford a new one, but I have been looking on line for a good second hand one (eBay, Gumtree)

Most of the repairers I've looked at, only briefly, seem to do most of their work on pro machines for shops etc.

Luckily I still enjoy a good cup of tea after breakie and dinner so the pain of not having the coffee fix after lunch is tolerable - for now.

These come up in Sydney all the time and occasionally Melbourne. Not sure if I've seen one in Adelaide.

Grumpy

You need a coffee machine/amplifier combo. The amps can heat the boiler in the coffee machine. I suspect you can't source one of these though. :(

Well the old SAECO has finally given up its brave fight. I have been able to coax a cup or two out of it over the last few weeks, but

today it only clanged, shuddered, groaned and rattled when switched on.

Gee I could do with a coffee right now
