Item: Marantz SR6010 with protection fault issue Price Range: Free (but please don't ask me to hold it for an extended period) Item Condition: Used and faulty Location: Epsom (Northern Bendigo, Victoria) Extra Info: After battling this thing and it's inability to get along with my Samsung TV, I ditched HDMI altogether, got an integrated stereo amp, and palmed this off to my brother for a couple of years. During that time he stuffed this notoriously thermally iffy receiver into a tiny entertainment unit, and so when he called me a few month ago asking for amp recommendations, and "oh, by the way, that $2k receiver you gave me stopped working", I wasn't entirely surprised. A friend furnished me with the service manual to try and put it in diagnostic mode and discern what kind of protection fault it is, and from what I'm able to determine it's not the 'replace a fuse and get a free receiver' kind. Even with nothing connected, you barely have enough time to mash the correct buttons and get it to tell you anything before it shuts off again, and what it does tell you suggests it's blown a voltage regulator or something power related. Like I say, not an easy one. If you fancy spending $400 odd on getting someone to repair this for you, or if you are a dab hand with surface mount devices, you are more than welcome to take this off my hands for nothing. If a 6 pack of Guinness fell into my lap that would be even better, but I'm not sure how many ml to donate to SNA in that case, so, free is fine. Comes with literally everything it came with the day I bought it, and nothing else. No major scratches or marks, although probably a bit of dust and fingerprint smudges.
