Howdy fellow DIYers,
I've been having a little muck around with WinIsd to help me design a new sub. WAF has me restricted to re-purposing an existing piece of furniture to house the sub, this has left the internal volume of the box to be approx 200L. The room is 200m3 and has several large openings to other rooms. HT to music ratio is about 60/40, so the sub needs to err toward the HT side (Mrs Jone5y likes bass).
I'm unable to the project file but the design was for a vented sub that utilises the Mach 5 UXL 18" driver in a 200L enclosure tuned to 18Hz. 1000w input signal, Butterworth Highpass @ 10Hz, Parametric eq set to 3dB gain @ 20Hz. Square port of 50cm (width of box) x 9cm, folded to reach length of 190cm - seems very high.
My main questions are a) have I got it totally wrong, will this driver/box combo fulfil my requirements c) is it overkill d) what other options would you suggest?
The end goal is to pair the sub to either the VAF dc-x35's, Troel's DTQWT, or Paul's HE2. Budget for the sub is 1k
Any help would be much appreciated
