GTG StKIlda September 3rd or 4th

I thought that I'd have a smallish GTG for maybe 6 or so people who are interested in hearing my Sound Smith Strain Gauge system and Avantgarde Solos. If we are feeling particularly strong we can do some speaker moving & compare them to my ADAMs. If you also like blues I can play my new remastered Robert Johnson 'reccids'.

Accompanying pizzas and coffee (via the Versalab), probably lunchtime on. Mme T will be in France:)

Father's day - Dad's choice:)

Hi Michael, I have my youngest daughter's 30th on Saturday the 3rd and I'll still have my son here on the Sunday, as he will be down from NSW for his sister's birthday and to be with me on Father's Day...........so I guess for me it is a bad weekend. Otherwise, I would certainly be a starter at your GTG.

It looks like I'll have to clean my speaker stands! Why do photos always emphasise every grain of dust:(

It was a good afternoon, good company and good music. Firstly we had some digital entertainment courtesy of Avantgarde fed directly from a Weiss DAC202 and my modified CEC. The we reconfigured and listened to vinyl via my ADAMs for most of the rest of the afternoon apart from plugging in an Audiopillea (thank you b4sound) feeding USB from the mini to the Weiss.

We did seem to get through rather a lot of beer:)

Would love to come, however I shall be OS at the time. Would love to intoduce you to my favourite single malts and explain the deficiencies in some posts you made. Obviously I need to invite you over here when I come back.

Trevor it was hard to directly compare them as the systems were different: CEC -> Weiss DAC202 -> Avantgarde Solo but then Soundsmith/Kuzma/Funked PT -> StereoKnight -> ADAMs. I think that the bass on the ADAMs is a bit tighter and the treble is 'faster' (ie more detail) versus the Solos energise the air in a way that only horns can and probably have an edge in imaging. The Solos are still for sale and would be a great bargain for anyone.
