  1. Digital hygrometers need calibrating too. Most $10 digital hygrometers are accurate at certain RH range only i.e RH70%-75%. I used HygroPalm https://www.omniinstruments.co.uk/hygropalm-21-22.html to calibrate my digital hygrometers.
  2. Oh yes, I attended from 1991 - 93. George Moik and Nik Crosina were still there. For my recording project, I did my mix down direct to my AIWA DAT player back then. It was helluva fun playing with the analogue NEVE console.
  3. If you want metal gear, you can find TS Lim.
  4. Up for sale is one new spare unit of Philips CDM12.1 transport mechanism (with larger motor). Price: $60 (firm). PM me your contact number if interested. CDM12.1 is not VAM1202 - https://www.hifigear.co.uk/blog/marantz-cd63se-laser-transport-mechanism-replacement CDM12.1 transport assembly CDM12.1 with large motor
  5. Go to the buyer's house to audition or just pay Martin a visit.
  6. The recording industry started mastering to DAT since the 1990s for easy storage and the sound quality will not degrade over the years.
  7. I believe it all depends on what media the music was originally recorded on. If the music was originally recorded on 2" analogue multi-track tapes and then mixed down to 1/4" 2-channel analogue tapes, the dynamic range will suffer due to the high noise floor of magnetic tapes. If the mixed down was done directly on DAT via a DAT recorder, it should be able to capture to a high degree the original analogue recording with better dynamic range. Of course, it also depends on the quality of the ADC and DAC.
  8. Seems like it'll only be available in Sep according to X in their FB.
  9. Acrolink/Esoteric 7N-PC9700 is out. Anyone got a hold on this yet? http://www.esoteric.jp/products/esoteric/7npc9700/indexe.html
  10. Yes, I also read about it on Head-fi from users of H10 Gustard. I guess the rail voltage is too high for the op-amps to handle.
  11. I'd been using V5 on my Minimax Dac since Dec 2016 before replacing them with V6 yesterday. Everything was okay before I decided to try the V6. The condition of my V5 is excellent (see photo below).
  12. Just for sharing Took delivery of the latest Burson V6 Classic discrete op-amps yesterday - 2 x single and 2 x dual. These are the latest discrete op-amps from Burson Audio. The V6 comes in 2 versions - V6 Vivid and V6 Classic. The latter is highly recommended to me by Alex of Burson. Those who are keen to try out the op-amps should take advantage of their package deals. 13. Thanks for sharing. Isn't it better for you to share some photos of the actual pair of Tracer speakers you acquired from Tracer Audio?
  14. I used to own an Equitech 2RQ-E, which was using the Plitron transformer.
  15. Generally, do you request the dealers to show you the cryogenic certification on their products which they claim have gone through the cryogenic process or you just take their word for it?
  16. A healthy aircon system should be able to provide the room with a relative humidity (RH) of about 50% in cool mode. That is a comfortable level for most people except those with sensitive nose. At 50%RH, you don't need to further dehumidify your room with a dehumidifier. This RH level will also inhibit fungus growth. Most of the dry cabinets in the market have a recommended operating RH of between 40% and 50%.
  17. Condensation will only form when there is a sudden change of temperature in the room from cold to hot. As long as you don't open the room door immediately after you turn off the aircon and let the room gradually warm itself up, condensation will not form. But again, our equipment can never escape the high humidity unless you keep your room dehumidified 24/7.
  18. I got my Equi=tech from a US dealer. The dealer told me that Equi=tech does not supply 240v models with the standard US Nema 5-15 receptacles, which are rated only 120v, as it is against the electrical code. Their 240v models instead come with the Nema 6-15 receptacles which are rated 240v. But there are people who got the 240v sets from HK that come with Nema 5-15 receptacles. Whether it is sanctioned by Equi=tech or not, best to check with them first.
  19. You can get a splitter for TV and FM. But a splitter will increase your insertion loss. Typical TV/FM splitter installed here has an insertion loss of as high as 20dB. To minimize insertion loss, best is to use dedicated FM band filter. Reference: http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=109057.msg758888#msg758888

  21. Frankly, I've never used any Telos products. Since I'll be there for a week, I thought just bring back something from there if it's cheaper to buy over there. Any recommendation bros?
  22. How would they know whether you are a tourist or you are an expatriate in their country? Perhaps there are restrictions to ship overseas but not practical to restrict any purchase in their country.
