Hi Hydrology, Thanks for the reply. Think you are spot in about visual aspect being important in selecting something to be on display for a long time to come. The wife certainly thinks so! The other part of the puzzle is a streamer for which I was looking at the CAmbridge Audio CXN V2. Given this could act as a pre-amp as well, would I be better to pair that with a power amp to save an upgrade later? The Hifi shop said he would think I would want to add a power amp down the track.

Good evening all, Have always been into surround sound but want to expand the hobby into stereo. As with all hobbies, I started with a relatively modest budget in mind (Powernode 2i with modest speakers) and have slowly convinced myself the budget should increase dramatically. When looking around on the weekend, the wife and I listened to some Davone Studio bookshelf speakers - we both liked the sound and the wife really likes the Danish design. When listen compared to some Acoustic Energy AE309 and AE500. Couple of things I am struggling with and hoping for some experienced feedback. The first is cost - at over $6k with matching stands, I am concerned I will paying paying more for the unique design and furniture value than then quality of the sound itself. The second is whether a modest amp (eg. Audiolab 6000A) would be sufficient to get the best out of them in a 20m2 room. I realise the sound signature is subjective but just hoping for some guidance or suggestions before we come to a decision on what to get. Thanks heaps!
