  1. These cables are fantastic. I have purchased 3 for myself previously and now buying another for a friend.
  2. I have had the 800a for about a month now and can say it is one of the best displays on the market from my own experience. Awesome picture. turn IFC off for football and the like but I leave it on for bluray and other tv programs. PS3 looks amazing on this set. wouldn't trade it for the world.
  3. Yeah well I did worse, I bout the PZ800A and didn't win anything! Still got the best TV though... very happy. Was hoping I could win something as a bit of a sweetener for the Mrs!
  4. Analogue looks "ok" but no where near the HD. can flick between analogue and HD and there isa huge diff between the two.
  5. I bought my tv interstate and can't select the store where i bought it as they are done by state... waiting on the staff to update it now so I can play.. fingers crossed I can win something for the wife to make her happier. (over ruled her, she wanted the 46 and I got the 50" so need to suck up a bit more to her now! )
  6. Only issue with the nook is if it is not well ventilated, the tv will over heat. there are fans in the rear top and without somewhere for the heat to disperse, could be a problem.
  7. moved house and just got tet put back on... stupid telstra stuffed up. Anyway, I got my 50 pz800a a week ago or so and am really happy with it. I use it mainly for gaming and FTA tv. Both are fantastic. I play COD4 online a heap and have noticed this set is extremely fast refresh rate. no lag whatsoever. But the set is young and have noticed a small phosphur lag when moving real fast. It is just shows as a green shadow when moving into/from white areas very occaisionally. Was a bit sceptical about there being no input lag or picture lag, but in comparison to LCD which is between 4 and 8ms generally, would pic this tv over any other in its price range (got it for $2685). Bluray also looks absolutely supurb. very nice. very happy. anyone know what to do if you bought it from interstate and on the swim to win you have to choose a store, but it only gives you stores within your state? sent emai and waiting but it hasn't been replied to yet.
  8. when does this promo end? I get my tv on Thursday and would love to win something else to make the mrs less uneasy about spending nearly 3K on a tv
  9. That is awesome! Already sent? I only just ordered them at 12:30 and got phone call to clarify address about an hour ago and said they are being sent now!? Thats service! The countdown til Thursday begins for tv! can't wait!!!!!
  10. Just got the TH-50PZ800A from Clive Peeters in Mildura for $2685 plus $50 for delivery to Broken Hill. Total $2735 which is pretty good for a country price. GG's weren't very helpful at all. Took their "lowest" price over to CPs and they beat it and let me pay with CCard...
  11. Sounds like some pretty happy customers. Might make my way to your sight foxtail and get me some HDMI goodness...
  12. You can now add me to the owners list. Took the plunge yesturday... Now just awaiting delivery on thursday and get some HDMI cables!
  13. one of the best pricesi have seen... What do you mean run it on something? you should clock up between 100 - 200 hours of normal broadcast and other pitures that fill the screen to run the unit in before watching movies with "letter box" on. Other miight be able to explain it better...?
  14. I am also very interested in this question... Anyone used bluray at 1080/24p?
  15. Don't own one, but I heard they have a glass panel over the front which, if the tv isn't viewed front on to a certain angle, you can get a reflection issue. So i have read...
  16. excellent post. And you are right, customers should look after the genuine sales persons. I work in probably the largest customer service role you cold imagine and understand where you are coming from and am subject to many stereotypes, but when people get to know and understand you, they feel a lot more comfortable in dealing with you. Unfortunately, as you said, there are a lot of bad salesmen out there. And this unfortunately pushes people away from retail outlets as they would prefer not to deal with "shonks" and leaves people like yourself in a hard situation. has this thread has turned into an ethics discussion??? As a customer, all I am concerned about is walking away from a deal knowing I have been looked after. And like any purdhase, house, car, tv... there is always a "middle ground" price that I am happy pay. That way I feel as though I have been looked after while the other party is also happy.
  17. 850 is rated as a less better PQ than the 800 though as they dropped some key features to make way for others. But saying that, the Pio would still dwarf the 800... if only I had that sorta cash?!
  18. Go the pioneer mate. Don't think you will regret it. they are big o nthe US forums and people rave about them. If i had the cash I would do the same, but I am very happy with my decision to get the pana as it has some very good characteristics too. Good luck.
  19. Thats a really good price with the extra warranty. Well done
  20. Nothin beats a Pio mate... Pioneer all the way, only reason I am getting a the PZ800 I don't have cash to through around. I would rather buy the PZ800 and with the 1500 or so I save, buy a new STR-DA2400ES receiver to help with that image delivery/processing. If I had the cash to splash though, definately go the pio...
  21. Sorry I didn't see this post. Thanks for the support mate. Good to see someone who worked in retail who also sees the point of the consumer, without them there is no retail. Some employees just don't get it. make a consumer happy, and they will happily consume. Thanks again...
  22. the general consensus on samsung plasma has been that they should stick to lcd. but again, that is just from many forums I have trawled. I am going to purchase the PZ800 in the next week. If you have a decent setup with a good quality receiver, you should have no issues with geting a good PQ with the pana as the only issue it has (that has been reported in themany reviews I have read) is upscaling SD tv. However, if your amp does this for you, then there is no issue with PQ as far as I am aware. The pq in stores should be taken with a grain of salt unless you know it is hooked up by HDMI and on best settings from source. I have been in looking at many LCDs over the past few months and can't believe the crap they try and pull over your eyes. one moron had a sharp Aquos LCD sitting beside a Sammy a650 and bravia XBR. the sharp was playing bluray over optimum settings (HMDI through a es receiver) and the other two on the HD demo channel connected by composite cables. the pictures were pixelated at times onthe two market leading LCDs and the sharp looked stunning in comparison. If you want a plasma, i don't think you will go wrong with either the PZ800 range or the Pioneers. the two best I have read about.
  23. have read reviews on the 850 and they say that the 800 has a better picture... They have left out some good performance in favour of better sound and few other things as like streaming internet, which i can't imagine being that big a deal. I would rather use laptop for net and tv for video, especially when youtube and the like are such poor PQ. (per the review) My opinion is that the 800 should be a better pic and better value. have not compared to pio but many reviews suggest the pio is better, but not by too much.
  24. made in japan Does give that extra little confidence. I would prefer japan over china too although I know their build quality would be highly srutinised and quality control will be just as strict in China as Pana wouldn't want to loose such a good rep. Hopefully China mde is cheaper and means better prices for us? and bigger profits for pana to keep up to date with quality tech, ensuring competition in the market. Imagine in Pio were the only decent plasma on the market? Don't think it will really matter though. I think LCD are about to take over in terms of PQ and tech within 12 months especially with the new Bravia hitting stores before Xmas. That seems like an absolute gem of a set...
  25. has the tv got a function to tell you how many hours the set has used to date? Or you just go by your own guess?
