  1. Are your banana plugs suitable for the second method foxtail? Just seems like this would be a neater outcome.
  2. foxtail, or anyone who has bought them. With the banana plugs from ezyhd, are you installing the wires like show on this website? http://www.audioholics.com/education/cable...-speaker-cables or on this one? http://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/speake...termination.pdf Cheers
  3. No never heard anything about battletech stuff from him. I realise that I could get something smaller from him. He does do the 402 rather than 502, but i don't think it will be in the veneer then. The 402 is 240x140x215. Seems like it might be small. Its amazing that 6cm makes so much difference. Just not sure on the colour still as there are no photos to compare between the 2. Even on the website not sure if they are all charcoal or any of the darker black veneer he does. Finally has anyone bought a smaller sub than the 1222VTL. Thought maybe it might be to large as well. Maybe the 1220R?
  4. Realise I'm digging up a almost year old thread since last post, but still better than a new one. Just ordered my Ascension speakers today unseen/unheard. Fronts: Summoner 863PKSTL Rears: Firesprite 502RV Centre: Woodowl 252KS Subwoofer: 1222VHTL Matching tweeter and kevlar driver in the fronts and centre. Currently picked the Charcoal black, does anyone have any photos, not sure whether to ring and change to the darker black. Everything in the living room is either a gloss or matt black, or the white entertainment unit. Unlikely lamtran will look at this thread but wondering how you got your firesprites customised. They are usually 300x200x215 and this seems big for a wall mounted speaker. Also has anyone gotten a smaller sub ie. 1220R purely at the box size might be an issue. Any peoples photos that aren't already here would be great. Had done a huge net research and have probably read everything already out there. So my main worries at the moment are the colour choice and the rears size. Cheers kulprit
  5. Picked up my 790 for the $800 quoted earlier. Was the off the shelf one though, can't see a problem with it at all. Anything I should be looking for?
  6. I'd really like to go up to the 890, but $470 seems alot for mainly a better upscaler/on screen gui. I wouldn't never use the pre-amp, or the extra hdmi.
  7. I haven't heard of a factory outlet that stocks Denon in brisbane but I will have a look around.
  8. Got offered a 790 from HN yesterday for $800 for the one off the shelf. Might go back tomorrow and get it. Anyone see a problem, or the chance of getting one for that price boxed.
  9. Cheers powerman1. Still can't decide between the Pioneer 1019 or the Denon 790/1910. This will add to the Pioneer column. Also between an Ascension or Krix speaker set but thats another story.
  10. Fantastic service foxtail, Ordered 12.30pm on the 30/3, received 10am 31/3. Great banana plugs and optical cable. Thanks for the free gift as well.
  11. Cheers foxtail. Can i ask the other guys here, obviously the 10 pairs will do my speakers, but do i need one pair for my sub if i'm gonna buy wire rather than a premade cable or do subs take a different end? Do you usually just buy thicker gauge wire? EDIT: Also this is all to be hooked up to my htpc. I will need an spdif cable to get 5.1 as the onboard hdmi doesn't do this. The HTPC has "1 x optical S/PDIF Out connector " Do this mean i just need a normal optical cable, which will be the same as the one I run to get sound from the tuner in my tv to the AVR? Have been reading around and it seems to say using coax. Do they have different connectors? And thanks for the reply foxtail, will find an old red and white rca composite cable and use one half of it for the sub.
  12. foxtail, with the banana plugs it is the $4.95 per pair?(one red and one black). So to put one on each end of the cable of a 5.1 system I would need 10 pairs? Cheers, will have to get some optical cables as well.
  13. Do people still recommend these over say a Denon 1910 or similiar? Not sure i need the 1019 over the 919 even, just for upscaling my wii. All other input is from my htpc, which i will either add a blu-ray drive to or by a bd player.
  14. Sounds good to me. I'm not going to have a dedicated room, so don't need to open curtains. And no plans on buying seperate amps, just the inbuilt ones in the AVR. Will have a talk to HN this weekend. Cheers.
  15. What exactly do the remote trigger and the rs232 do for you Glen1? Just wondering if this could be worthwhile for me. Its the model above I am looking at and is cheaper.
  16. Went and had a listen to a Denon 1910 today at Videopro in Brisbane (if anyone could suggest other stores that would be great). Quite liked it overall, couldn't pick any speakers to go with it. It might have a few features I don't really need as well. The upconverting I would use, along with the zone 2. However I am happy with a 5.1 system. What price have these been going for as it is ticketed at $1400 there. Didn't haggle as i'm not ready to buy. Also, what are the equivalent models in other brands that might fit my budget of total $2500 for AVR and 5.1 speakers. Have read that 50%/50% for AVR/speaker spend is recommended.
  17. This is more the price range I am looking at. I have looked at the Onkyo 507 and it seems the specs will suit me. But haven't heard it and not sure if i even need anything above this. I want to play bluray with lossless audio in 5.1 and have the option of later putting 2 speakers on the deck to play a seperate source. I've never actually heard a 7.1 system over a 5.1 system so not sure what i'm missing out on. Then there is the speakers to go along with this. This is much more overwhelming than anything i've bought before. I can see why you guys get caught up in the upgrading, so much cool stuff to play with. Also read that the 507 won't upconvert my wii component inputs to allow them to be sent to the tv via HDMI. This seems like something that should work, do I have to go to a higher model to get this feature?
  18. Sorry to dig up an old thread guys. Just wondering if there is a setting to enable 24p mode on my 50pz800a. I am inputting a 1080p signal @ 24Hz from my HTPC. It looks fine to me but just wanted to check there was nothing I was missing. Have read other threads about the new models that mention a setting.
  19. What is the channel called on other peoples TV's? On mine even with a rescan it comes up at 7 Digital 2, which just looks stupid.
  20. We got a lovely ad about home teeth whitening. Was such good quality that I ordered 3.
  21. It hurts my eyes, so pixelated. And i missed the intro, hope someone recorded such important history
  22. In Brisbane, Go on 99 is still showing up as Nine Guide on a full rescan, however it is broadcasting the SD content. Will try again tomorrow.
  23. I know that on my 800a, component also displays the resolution being input, not just HDMI.
  24. To go with above, can the pz800a display what the resolution of the internal tuner is? Ive been looking for this for ages.
  25. I've found that channel 30 SBSHD no longer has any broadcasting but I now pick up 350 as SBSHD. Plus all the other channels that are just copies. So at the moment unskipped I have 3 (SBS SD), 32 (SBS World) and 350 (SBS HD) Is this right for everyone else?
