  1. I had this issue thm my 42" model 70A. I had the first TV repaired in Australia with this issue after someone in the US solved the problem. They basically take the frame off your TV and install sound dampening felt pads in a number of spots inside the TV. Definitely made a difference as the random clicking was driving us nuts. Even after all these years....It still clicks, nowhere near as bad but you get used to it.
  2. I notice when I scroll through the on demand movie list, the box in the right hand corner plays the movie preview. If you leave the movie selection where it is, the preview pane starts to show the entire movie ? Will it keep playing the entire movie and will they charge me if I keep it on ? has anyone else experienced this ?
  3. Yes, appreciate that. DJ's said buy it because they can't match. If Panasonic allowed stores to 'cut deals'. it would be quite risky wouldn't it ? Imagine if HN found out that a specialty online retailer (such as big brown box) got it cheaper. Pana would be up for a fortune in compensation i'd imagine. anyway, story has a happy ending. Bing Lee beat the price, $990 inc delivery
  4. absolute best price is $1100 + delivery even after they were at the $1000 mark 3 weeks prior. I tried them all, no-one wanted to make a deal.
  5. Finally!!!! 42" Panasonic G10A advertised for $999 including free delivery. Bigbrownbox.com.au have taken out a full page ad (page 28) in the sun-herald. all that baloney the stores told me 2 weeks ago, some will have to match it now!! anyone else beating this deal ?
  6. That's more like it !! HN are Panasonic's biggest customer, hence best pricing. Maybe I got a bad rep or something. Is it possible to PM me the exact details so I can have HN match accordingly ? Many thanks.
  7. This afternoon I visited: Clive Peeters Bing Lee Dick Smith Myer Harvey Norman In an effort to find the Pana Plasma 42" G 10A series. Clive Peeters had them for $998 2-3 weeks ago, nowwww... can ;t do better than $1080?? Clive Peeters won't budge (except for free delivery) on current $1099 price. Has anyone been close to the $1000 mark lately for this ? Me no understand why!! No Wii promotion, 2010 line up about to come out, aussie dollar through the roof
  8. Unfortunately already had this feature switched off, so no luck. we used the settings recommended from a previous thread where they had a samsung technician calibrate the set. Movies are the worst of it, where picture lacks the real depth. May have to get a technician out to calibrate for him. Yes the set is pretty, razor thin, very bright. I wouldn't be buying it, esp. not at a premium price.
  9. I thought of saying ripped off but I would have been offending the Ripp family whose heritage dates back to the second fleet and were sent here as convicts for stealing bread. No offence intended, you are obviously a brilliant minded individual lamenting the recidivists of this world whilst you while away the hours of your petty existence
  10. Exactly right alebonau. He has fiddled with every settng, looked up forums to optimise and tweak each setting, but I saw it again last week, it is a shocker. Re other comments about shadow spots in the corners, I only noticed it because someone pointed it out. For over $3K, picture is far worse than my old Pana Plasma and inferior to older generation LCD's. Does anyone know how to get rid of this cartoon like effect via settings ?
  11. Forget mind altering drugs, just buy one of these TV's. Seriously, no picture depth whatsoever, images move across a screen whilst the background is almost stuck. Apart from that, back to the LCD clay faces problem with no definition in previous model LCD's. The Sony LCD's poop all over this, even the cheaper models, AND Samsung are charging top dollar. My mate got seriously gipped. Am I the only one who thinks this ?
  12. does anyone know if you can watch TV whilst 2 programmes are simultaneously recording ? we only seem to be able to toggle through each of the programmes recording and can't access the other TV channels. is it something in our setup? If we try to watch TV via TV aerial, it says weak signal. fyi, it is hooked up to samsung led. our model is dmr-xw350
  13. You just want to buy the new model Pio Laurie, any excuse I have a Pana 42PX 70 A. In a technical argument you will always win as I don't have a clue. But to my eyes, it looks sharper (same picture settings applied). I haven't tweaked with the picture settings on Fox yet, perhaps I need to to optimise both. BTW, IQ2 is well worth it. Anything that makes SD fox look better is a good thing
  14. No point comparing ESPN to a FTA HD channel. It needs to be done on a like for like basis. Watching AFL HD on FTA is better than HD Fox. Anyone done a like for like basis ? Agree some ESPN programmes look awesome but you can't compare because they are not on FTA
  15. I love the features (but I'm coming from not having an IQ box before) The picture in general seems better via HDMI cable, worth the up front payment All HD channels (inc FTA) don't look as good as HD-FTA via the regular antenna cable into my Pana's Tuner (even though Fox says 720p is being achieved) I'll try the movies in HD tonight, would expect a big difference, think I'll watch RocknRolla
  16. great to hear ozboy!!!!!!!!, foxtel sales rep said I needed to keep hd channel package to get on demand movies in hd, said the movies would revert to sd if I dropped the hd channel package ??
  17. One more question, anyone know the physical dimensions of the IQ2 box ?
  18. Hello Do you get a free HDMI cable when upgrading to IQ2 or do you have to provide your own ? Can you get and pay for HD+ movies even if you don't take up the HD channels package ? Thanks
  19. Discretionary spend retailers on the ASX (Harvey, JB, DJ's etc) are getting absolutely pounded. They will have to drop prices to turn over their stock. Yes the AUD has plunged so Pana et al need to enact global sourcing and pricing strategies to ensure affordability levels are met in individual countries. Good comment b4 re hedging. World deflation is a real possibility. so I think the retailers and manufacturers will have to suck it in and accept lower margins through the supply chain or risk factory shutdowns etc
  20. Do you get a free HDMI cable with IQ2 or do you have to buy one yourself ?
  21. The good news is the felt kit will fix the problem, (speaking from personal experience) unless something else is going on, good luck : )
  22. not normal, potentially paranormal. Ask pana to send a tech and have them armed with a felt kit just in case the problem is only the well reported Pana click issue
  23. I figure many of us will want to get new TV's before the end of the useful life of our existing units. What percent of the TV purchase price would you get for selling your TV at the following time intervals: - < 6 months - 1 year - 2 years - 3 years Anyone had any experience or send any links ?
  24. Guys< I staretd another thread on this. I had the felt kit installed and it fixes the problem, boy am I happy. It still clicks the odd occasion but more of a muffled click but it may go 3 days before clicking etc, perfectly acceptable given it was clicking every 10 minutes before Read my other thread which was a Poll Thread
