  1. gee come into this thread late! I woulda bought it just for a back up at $850. well done in the end Homer
  2. Hi all who have one of these. Just a quick question, or maybe not I want to record/copy from my foxtelHD to an larger external hard drive so I can store more shows to watch at a later date, with the possibility of then recording to dvd/blu ray. Does this machine do that or will it only copy to a PC? Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Wayne
  3. yea but as you know the sound isn't as good with the analog RCA's. might have to go with the changing out put on PS3 if we want the full effect. cant justify another amp after just buying a modded BDPLX52 for the "good" room
  4. It ain't..... The VSX-AX4A at the other end is & it is fine. I think tb123 might have nailed it.....
  5. I have a feeling you may be right with the free to air thing, it does work with that. bugger. I might try ringing Pioneer & see if someone there has any idea. The amp worked fine with a coax from the old dvd player & now works fine (with no adjustment) with the toslink direct from PS3 to amp. That seems to suggest your first suggestion may be the unfortunate outcome. Not buying another tv, this one is still fine in the family room, & the PDPLX509 in the other room works no probs. Just gunna be the misses pissed at me for making it harder to operate it all. I don't think I can program the harmony around this little problem. Maybe with some fancy macro work........ cheers for your input
  6. Hi all. I have an issue. I'm trying to get my receiver to play audio from the monitor & am obviously missing something cause I'll be buggered if I can sort it. The gist being being able to switch on the amp, set to TV/SAT, & receive signal from what is on the screen. I'm really only concerned about the PS3 as we use that for blu ray in that room. The display is a Pioneer PDP-507XDA (http://www.cnet.com.au/pioneer-pdp-507xda-339271389.htm) & the receiver is a Pioneer VSX-816 (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/HomeEntertainment/AV-Receivers/PioneerReceivers/VSX-816-K|S) The Pioneer has only 2 x HDMI inputs & I have a Beyonwiz DP-P2 conected to one via HDMI, & a FOXTEL IQ & PS3 going into a splitter then to the other HDMI input. My issue is I can't get digital sound through a optical toslink cable from the TV's digital out terminal (optical) to the amps optical input. All I want to do is take the optical digital sound from the tv to the amp. I can direct the toslink from the PS3 directly to the amp & change the out put on the PS3 & it works fine for blu ray/dvd but if the kids want sound when playing games they have to change it back to HDMI... gets a bit messy! So I know the PS3 is fine & so is the amp, so it appears the problem lies in the tv. Hope this makes sense to someone & you can be of help. I was running an old Pioneer DVD/Hdd recorder via HDMI to the tv with a coax lead to the amp & that worked fine, but have now scrapped that & use the PS3 exclusively for blu ray & dvd playback. Sound & video is getting to the tv via HDMI
  7. Its always gunna happen though! Be happy with what you got, if you got it at a good price & it does what you want... who cares!
  8. Yeah I hear ya. Just found a BDP-33FD which is a latter model region free modded for $499. Thats $430 cheaper for an up spec model....... hmmmmmm
  9. Hi all. I'm considering importing a Pioneer BDP-23FD through a seller on Amazon. Does anyone have any feed back on the does & don't of importing units from the states? They have a separate power cord so that's easy, & multi voltage as well I would prefer to buy a local BDP-LX52 but I can import the 23FD with the region free mod kit done for $675. Pioneer website has LX52's for $689 & mod price from Gatti Audio is $240. Thats $254 difference! Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers Wayne

  11. Does make you wonder why they stopped with the first version!
  12. Well add another. Bought a P2 this morning. Apart from an initial heart failure of firing it up for the first time & getting the 'HDD not initialized' message, all good so far. Similar enough to the old masterpiece to still be familiar, but already finding some nice improvements. Only thing I can fault so far is the info box at the bottom of the screen seems to be a couple of 'spaces' to the right & cuts off the end of some titles. Pretty minor & if thats the worst I'll be happy! Thanks for your input Mick.
  13. Thanks again, had pretty much decided on the 7100, but I think you've changed that. So it'll be youre fault if it all goes pear shaped!
  14. Hmmm. Doesn't sound as enticing as the beyonwiz, but then again sometimes simplicity can be an advantage. How do you find the rest of the machine Jman? I was real happy with my old toppy untill it started playing up but it seems the 'new' version may have fallen behind somewhat? Cheers Wayne
  15. Perfect! You obviously have the P2 Mick, are you happy with it or is there something that really gives you the sh!ts with it? PS. if you 2 high class hookers charge that much I'd better go with the one that costs less to feed......
  16. Cheers Mick, exactly what I was looking for, now all I need is a topfield owner to put their hand up! PS. your reference to using the arrow keys suggests there are only 4 settings that can be used with the original remote, does this sound correct? Having a harmony 785 do you think it would be possible to enter more variations with the larger range of buttons on the 785? May be beyond your scope of knowledge on this subject, but here's hoping!
  17. As a matter of fact a fairly lengthy read through a **** load of threads didn't really answer my questions properly, much like your reply, but thanks for your input....... Sorry to have disturbed your busy night.
  18. Is this a problem on all 7100's or all new PVR's? i haven't experianced this on my old topfield 5000 MP. Is it just something SBS are doing to piss us off?
  19. Evening all. A question re ad skip on the topfield 7100 or the beyonwiz P2. I've had a 5000pvrtMP for 5 or so years now & loved it! But it appears to be suffering the dreaded capacitor problem so is now on the back burner while I decide whether to fix it or not! The good news is it gives me an excuse to update, like we need one.... All I have used it for is taping tv shows & watching them at a later date, & occasionally copying onto a pioneer dvd/hdd recorder > dvd. Now with out a doubt THE MOST IMPORTANT THING was the PBK so kindly made by Andrew Cullen (you da man Andrew !!) I was able to set ad skips to 3 mins, 30 sec, 10 sec forward & 10 sec, 30 sec, 5 min back. With the research I have done I would love the convenience of an 'all in one box' like say the the panasonic BW-500 etc, but it appears these (& the newer BW850) don't have this feature. (will be very happy to have someone tell me I'm wrong on this??) BUT the ad skip is of far greater importance to me. The beyonwiz seems to have a few other 'handy' features as you would expect from a more media type player to have, but again, THE MOST IMPORTANT THING for me is the adjustability of the ad skip. So, to the owners of the topfield 7100 or beyonwiz P2 (or anyone who has excellent knowledge of one, or both), which one has this HIGHLY IMPORTANT feature that works the best? PS. money is not a consideration as I will buy whichever does this job the best, & I do use a logitech harmony 785 universal remote exclusively to operate the quagmire that is my entertainment set up. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me. Cheers Wayne

  21. Had a friend in SA put a deposit on one last week at HN. ($5000) She was told they(pioneer) were getting another shipment of LX's (which is different to the story I got a month ago when I chased around to get one!) but that HN have bought all of the stock. So if anyone is still looking, try HN.
  22. tell a lie, could justify it! wife said stop dickin about & get the best! so an LX509 has made its way home! love my wife
  23. thanks for that. its a second tv & would be replacing a samsung, so it HAS to be better then that! love to have 2 pioneers in the house but cant really justify it!
