Mirage (Canadian company) know what they're doing, these should be a fine sounding speaker, and for the money a no brainer. I had way back the Mirage M1's a stunning sounding big floor stander.

Correct me if im wrong but its the 1st dac ive seen to use USB C.
Is that good or bad, I've only ever used aes/ebu or coax. Maybe it's a space thing, aes/ebu is a physically large connection.
like the 5v output with volume control from a low source impedance, direct to power amp connection is the way to go with this baby.
Wonder what output opamp they're using and if they socketed it for the "opamp changing fanatics" like they did on the D50.

look at separate transports / DACs.
Get a good transport (no slot loader) that has aes/ebu digital output as well as the usual coax and Toslink, and a good R2R Ladder multibit Dac that also has AES/EBU input with volume control if possible, that way you can go direct into you poweramp/s without the need for a preamp
The only trouble doing this is that separate transports don't usually have SACD playability if that's important to you, it's not to me.

"Good" R2R dacs love this sort of thing and won't be harsh and won't get "polite" on you like DS (Delta Sigma) can. And to me they sound richer and have more body and dynamics than DS

$399 in Australia at a couple of places I found
If you have some US dollars to get rid of in your Paypal or somewhere.
Look where you can get them in the US for $229usd. but you need 3rd party shipping
That's like getting one at Big-W
But for same price of $229usd you can get it direct from Topping with free shipping.

I see the Kickstarter is doing well.
I don't know much about this kick starter thing, does $310,445 aud mean that's what they've got in the way of orders already after one day of going live? If so that's 620 odd orders in one day!!
This is the pair of V3's with the power options I'd get, which equates to around $498aud shipped!!!
(seriously have my finger on the button for a pair, even though I love my Hypex NC500 mono's with massive LPS)

Knock yourselves out, you vintage speaker lovers $250 (1976 pre cursor to Bose 901's?)

Probably don't need the new one
I'll be surprised if it doesn't get the **** squashed out of it also, like much of the stuff today, so the "dynamically impaired deaf" can hear all the lyrics and instrument during the quiet passages, and so it also won't take out IEM's and the wearers eardrums on the dynamic sections.
Remember "If you have no quiet, you have no loud" that's what dynamics are all about.

I am a bit torn as to whether I invest in a one box DAC/Streamer (eg Eversolo DMP-6 Master Edition), or go with a cheaper streamer (WIIM?) and spend the majority of my budget on the DAC.
Get a good streamer that has aes/ebu or at least coax digital outputs and use the best dac you can afford that has digital domain volume control, and go direct into your Marantz 250M power amp (no preamp)

It be interesting to see how squashed (compressed) it is when one makes it to this site, compared to the magic of the original 1988 versions that were done, I still marvel at my original 1988 Elektra CD for clarity, emotiveness and dynamics.

only moved the WFT-1D+ on because it doesn't support FLAC files
Same here but the Marantz NA7004 does.
And it does the UHD of https://motherearthradio.de/ mixes also

WFT-1D is not actually the latest/last component tuner from Sangean.
I had the 1D+ the WFT-IDi was the last/best of their 1 series, that's why I called them mediocre, even so it beat out the Tandberg 3001 FM.

They are using the highly praised ESS stereo ES9039Q2M D/A converters "but are using 2 of them" so they double them up for even better specs. Which all the best ESS based dacs are doing these days using these ESS chips.
(like they did with more expensive D90SE and LE there goes the resale value on those)

Just like the Fosi V3 monoblock amps I posted up.
This Topping D50III dac is a stunner with it's "objective measurements", and with volume control to go direct into the above monoblocs what a pairing, also with 10 x different filtering options, that'll keep the fiddlers happy.
Can't believe what's coming out from China these days https://tinyurl.com/275lva4q
Please post up if you get to hear one.

If you want to give FM a go, get one of the better standalone component tuners first and see how you go with the standard antenna or a TV antenna
I had one of the best, a Tandberg 3001 (FM only) that was perfect serviced/tuned condition via the service manual by Allen Wright (rip)which also has a proper discrete 100ohm output stage, going direct, used with external Hills dedicated Y-FM3 antenna that could see the Gore Hill towers.
Sorry surprisetech but I sold it when I heard what DAB+ ABC Classic sounded like through a mediocre Sangean WFT-1Di latest/last model DAB+,FM,AM, and internet streamer they made with it's digital output into an MSB discrete dac (not it's own) in an A/B comparison with it on the same amp/s and speakers.

Perfect!!!!, I'd buy them if I didn't have some thing similar using GoldenEar Triton's instead, use a couple of these 21kg active subs "tall" 2 X 8" motional feedback drivers in each sub "used as speaker stands" with the 22's on their sides on top of them, (tweeter innermost) and you have the cheapest best big! sounding full range system down to 20hz you can get for the money.

No amps needed at all, just a good source with a volume control

@zedsMomo, not quite 250w into 8ohm, but a pair of these monoblocks should do, there's a lot of 'hype" (over 40 pages of talk) around these bettering spec wise the Hypex NC500 which I have , for the money you save I would spring for biggest 2 x 48v 10amp smps for them.
Here are the wattages v load impedance for one shared 48v power supply, "may" even be better still if you get 2 of these 48v 10A supplies as I suggested

Good transport for the money, "linear power supply" (no noisy smps) a must for source equipment. And they have proper tray loader CD laser/mech, no cheap computer slot loader rubbish.

Yes class a is not a reality, too big too expensive to buy and to run.
It is if you made it with self contained water cooling/radiator/silent pump and cooling heatsink jacket, a 5kva transformer/500,000uf caps, 36 Hirel EB203/ED204 outputs, like I did in the 80's. 2 man lift

If it is the OPA 1612 but surface mounted, very good anyway, no need to play around with. Should be great straight into the NC500 monoblocks without buffer boards I use if I get one.
