  1. Item: Pair of rare vintage 6C33C winged C triodes Location: Melbourne 3763 Price: $70 (plus postage) Item Condition: excellent near new old stock Reason for selling: surplus Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Purchesed these NOS a few years ago as a second spare set. Have only been used for about 3-4 hours to test. Both dated 1970. Sound is significantly better than later 1980s OTKs. Had no intention of ever selling my amp but after moving house found I needed more power so the amp has gone and these are now surplus. Pictures:
  2. Item: Vintage Kenrad JAN-CKR 6SN7 GT / VT231 rare black glass Location: Melbourne (Kinglake) Price: $70 Item Condition: good working condition with no issues Reason for selling: Sold the valve amp Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Purchased as unused, NOS mid 2015 and was used very sparingly for 2 years in an Almarro 318B which was only used on rare occasions.. Will have about 180-200 hours use. Absolutely glorious sounding valve and very rare now. Pictures:
  3. Item: Denon Au - 340 step up transformer Location: Melbourne VIC Price: $550 Item Condition: Good (has some minor wear marks and has been modified) DISCLAIMER: This is a passive unit that has no mains electrical connection and contains no dangerous electrical currents Reason for selling: No longer required Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Excellent vintage transformer suitable for most moving coil cartridges with both 40ohm and 3ohm windings. This unit has been re-wired with (presumably) higher quality hook-up wire and all 5 switches have been removed so that it now has 3ohm & 40ohm stereo input pairs instead of switchable inputs for two turntables. This was a very common mod that takes this great tranny to the next level. It has also had new quality RCA jacks fitted to the 40ohm inputs and outputs. No longer required after purchase of Accuphase integrated with very good mc stage - and now using mm cartridge anyway. Pictures:
  4. Item: Almarro A318B 18Watt single ended triode Location: Kinglake Vic 3763 Price: sold Item Condition: Used, excellent condition Reason for selling: No longer using Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Only Extra Info: This is a beautiful looking and sounding amp that has many excellent reviews. Very powerful for a SET amp and will drive many more speakers than most lower powered SETs. I believe these are no longer available and overseas prices have been going up since production stopped. Output tubes are a pair of Russian 6C33B triodes and uses 6H8C/6SN7 input and 6H9C/6SL7 driver tubes. The whole amp is point-to-point wired with no circuit boards. I Am the original owner and it was purchased new from Audiophile in Fitzroy in late 2012. Amp Has very low hours and is in excellent condition both cosmetically and in operation. It has a pair of very low hour NOS 1970 dated winged-C 6C33Cs (less than 10 hours so still breaking in). These are widely considered the holy grail of 6C33C tubes and are almost unobtainable now and therefore quite valuable. Input tube is original Russian 6H9C which is as new (I used a NOS 6SL7 which is not included) Driver is an equally low hour Tungsol 6SN7. Original English owners manual from Audiophile included but no original packaging. Selling because I just don't have the listening time to enjoy this any more. Pictures:
  5. Item: Denon DL-103r Location: Kinglake Vic Price: $200 Item Condition: used Reason for selling: no longer needed Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bought this a couple of years ago from 2juki ebay store in Hong Kong to see what all the hype was about, have played about 10 sides with it then put my Denon S1 back on and the 103 has been in the drawer since. My arm, an Audiomods, is probably not ideal for the 103. It's in mint condition. Pictures:
  6. The short answer is yes as it has both 8 & 4ohm taps, but in reality it depends on your room, music type, and expectations. Although the Almarro punches way above it's weight it is still a SET at 18 wpc so running it into fairly low sensitivity speakers (if they are in fact 87ohm) it will be more suited to acoustic or lighter 'weight' music in a smaller room than heavy rock/electronica at high volume in a large room. You may be very surprised at what it is capable of, if your in Melbourne your more than welcome to bring your speakers and have a good listen. Cheers

The sound is absolutely superb, very well balanced from top to bottom with unbelievable resolution. Will need a highly resolving system to do it justice with a good quality step-up trannie and/or phono stage. This is a very low output cartridge at 0.15uV. I have had excellent results with the Denon AU-340 into a Musical Surroundings Nova Phenomena. New price is a little difficult to establish as they are not readily available. I paid $895US (about $1,200 AU today. Has only been played on quality records cleaned on an Oki Noki RCM. Original packaging and documentation included. Happy to demo if you are in the area.
  10. Last chance for local pick up, interstate offer pending, will accept tomorrow if no local offers
  11. Have just purchased a plinth for my 401 after much deliberation and ended up with a Vinylista. Its a sorbathane suspended motorboard type, not a massive type but I am very impressed with the results. Extremely natural presentation with enough definition to be able to adjust VTA by the mm Worth considering if you are open to options, and you don't have to worry about what it is mounted on.
  12. Hi Daffo, yes you will need an arm, cartridge and phono stage if you don't have one. Your starting point would be about $250 for a Rega RB250 arm, about $100 for a reasonable MM cartridge & $150 for a basic Rega/Cambridge phono or equivelent. This will get you up and running but will not realise the full potential of the upgraded deck. Will still get you a lot of enjoyment and you would have the option of upgrading arm/cartridge/phono later. Cheers, Mal
  13. * Item full name and model etc. Rega P3-24 comes with: Isokinetik aluminium sub-platter with ruby bearing, Funkfirm Achromat platter, SRM-Tech Silent-Base, Isokinetik PEEK main bearing housing and ceramic bearing, SRM-Tech bearing damper rubbers, SRM-Tech spindle support pad & as new Rega white belt. NO TONEARM * Location: Melbourne * Item condition description: Turntable about 2 1/2 years old (after RP3 released) Speed is steady and within 0.1 of a second over 3 minutes. (spot on!) Very good condition with minimal wear including lid. All parts very good condition mostly around 12 months old. * Price and price conditions: $690 - will not separate. * Reason for selling: Have caught Garrarditis * Payment Methods: Paypal, Cash - Pickup, or Australia Post COD. * Extra Info: Great chance for someone to pickup a superb sounding deck with over $900 of upgrades. This is in another league compared to standard. Was using the excellent Audiomods arm on this. Just add the Rega mount arm of your choice. Note: I found the Isokinetik spindle to be a very tight fit in the PEEK housing. It would only run with very light oil. Currently have it set up with ceramic bearing & spindle pad in original housing with dampers. Much prefer local pick-up, if it hasn't sold locally after a week I will consider sending interstate. PS this is my first post after my introduction so go easy on me My ebay user name is gd_day1 - I have one negative feedback over a year ago as a result of being the victim of a scammer. I have the police report if interested. (ebay + paypal would still not reverse the scammers feedback because he got away with the scamm.
  14. Thanks for all the warm welcomes guys. I have recently moved from a highly modified Rega to a Garrard 401. Just ordered a Vinylista plinth from Martin in Berlin who has been great to deal with. Will let you know my thoughts when it arrives in a couple of weeks. Rest of the rig is Denon S1, Denon AU340, Audiomods arm, Musical Surroundings Nova Phenomena, Almarro 318B and Tannoy Turnberry's. I listen to mainly 60s - 70s rock, all blues and have been getting more and more into jazz lately. Favourite album is just too hard - changes day to day but Matt Taylor's Straight as a Die and Coletrane's Soultrane are getting high rotation atm. Cheers
  15. Hi all, Have been following the forums and classifieds for a while now so guess its time to say hi. Slowly getting back into music and hi-fi after many years (kids nearly grown up now). Listen to 95% vinyl and love tuning and upgrading my vinyl front end. Cheers, Malco
