  1. Extra Info: I have some 12AX7 tubes to be tested and wonder if there is any such services in melbourne, thanks.
  2. Yes, very nice machine and I will be the happiest person if I can sell both my Revox B77 for the Nagra.
  3. Are you selling them?
  4. I have been using the first generation Terminator since 2009 and have since up graded into the Tomahawk Wand till today. I can only say it matches many cartridges very well. I had Miyajima Kansui, Miyajima BE mono, Koetsu Rosewood, Denon 103 (aluminium and wood body), Decca super Gold and Decca C4E and liked them all!! For the past 5 years I normally listen with Decca C4E. I can safely say the Terminator is an excellent arm and very forgiving. I have 3 TT and other arms are Reed 2A and a heavily modified 12 inch Hadcock 242 and all 3 very good arms but Terminator with Decca C4E on Technics SP10 is my favourite everyday use it could also because I have a stand by Decca C4E to handle the wear. Hope above helps
  5. Hi Alan, Some years ago my Revox had two issues, L & R imbalances, record and play back slightly off. I have a Denon HI Fi check CD that I bought many years ago which I used to calibrate and rectify those issues with the 1 kHz tone I found out you can download the 1 kHz tone if you google: · 0db clipping level download · 1khz tone download You may be able to download hopefully into hand phone for the checking/calibration. I am no tape recorder expert but hopefully above helps and good luck!! Cheers, Keng.
  6. Hi Gremrock, I am using a pair of nagra VPA with twin 845. First tube roll were a set of KR was a disaster got part of the cost back. The WE Replica is very close to the KR and very reliable as well highly recommended. KW
  7. Where about are you maybe if I can come by to view and better still test and collect if all good. Cheers.
  8. Hi, What are the condition of the surrounds of both drivers will it be possible to take photos of the drivers? Thanks
  9. I have one reconditioned about a month ago with new belts and speed calibrated. I was the original owner when it was first released. Sorry no box.
  10. Don’t see much of Transfiguration cartridges on SNA for sale. I used to have the entry level Axia and up graded to the Orpheus many years ago and liked both very much. Excellent value for money product and I am sure the person buying it would not regret.
  11. I am assuming Audioquest is an USA product and if so again USA is imperial and you need to get hold of the correct Allen key or else risk damaging the allen socket of the screw.
  12. Looks like we are of the same kind!! As you can see the yellow set is about 35 years old and hardly any wear. I was involved in tool making since 1967 all my life and ultra precision machining since 1980 and I like owning quality tools. Never believe in junk tools especially many of the cheap products from the East.
  13. SME stands for Scale Model Equipment Company Limited started in 1946 owned by Alastair Robertson-Aikman. SME being a UK company was using imperial standards therefore those tone arms and screws are imperial size and not metric. I used to own a SME 3012 S2 for many years and was using my imperial set of Allen keys for the screws. I attached photo of my Allen keys, the set in yellow is imperial and red is metric. Hope this help.
  14. Though I mentioned the three arms has got their own characteristics but in my setup and listening room there is one distinct difference of the three arms the Reed a Gimbal tone arm, the Hadcock a Uni-Pivot and the Terminator a linear tracker of which I found the Terminator produces better sound stage with all the cartridges I owned but I am in no way to say Terminator is the best of my three tone arms. That’s my two cents and I am no expert but just an average person like listening to vinyls. Cheers, KW.
  15. Very sorry to read about Oven Y is no longer with us he was an extremely knowledgeable and a nice person. Thoughts go out to the family and will surely miss his contributions. Thought I’ll share my two cents of exploring the Terminator LT arm. I was a keen reader of Lencoheaven and Decca Club sites. Over the years I have learned very much especially the Terminator LT arm and Decca cartridges. I found using the Terminator challenging but extremely rewarding when setting up is overcome. I bought direct from Vic in Jan 2010 with the round wand and later up graded to the Tomahawk which is the flat aluminium wand. It was so encouraging that later made 5 more 20 mm longer wand as CNC machines were easily accessible sadly as I have retired such facilities not available anymore. My Terminator is attach to a Technics SP10 MK2 and I personally CAD designed and made the plinth out of Acrylic specifically for the Terminator with a custom made arm board recessed into the plinth like the original Technics plinth. Took me some time to figure out and try and error in addition with what I learned from Lencoheaven forums to get the Terminator to work as intended. It was quite a great deal learning from the Lencoheaven site how to set up the pump, reserve tank, filters and air pressure gauge that never gave me any trouble since 2010. The pump is about 1.5 meter away from the TT and it’s so quiet that sometimes I had to feel for the air to confirm its working. I designed and made a special fixture for much convenient setting arm length, balancing and height adjusting which allows me to swap wand (cartridge pre mounted) in less than 5 minutes. All wands are set with same height and same cartridge to pivot distance to facilitate cartridge/arm swapping in less than 5 minutes. Swapping a stereo cartridge (cartridge pre mounted) to mono cartridge and play records in less than 5 minutes... My specially designed and made arm board allows for precise forward, backward and swing of the whole arm to the HFN arm set up template at a breeze. The tangential tracking error is almost zero and I don’t “hear” any distortion comparing with my two other TT. Most of the time I play this LT set up with a Decca C4E and other times a Garrard 401 with a Decca Super Gold mounted on a modified Hadcock arm or Lenco G88 with a 12 inch 2A Reed mounted with an Ortofon A90 cartridge. Each TT set up playing the same record has its own character and I enjoy playing and comparing constantly. To make all this possible an Aesthetix Rhea phono amp is used capable of 3 TT changing from one TT to another by switching.
  16. I sold my near $2000 speaker cables which I used for about 10 years after trying with Dueland 16 Gauge!!
  17. You can also try Dueland cables and very happy using it for my Tannoy 12 Gold. Review link below: https://jeffsplace.positive-feedback.com/duelund-600v-dca12ga-dca16ga-and-dca12ga-on-the-stokowski-altecs-as-speaker-cables/ Cheers.
  18. I did recapping more than 10 years ago and can’t remember what I replaced with but I use troelsgravesen web site as guide together with the cross references of the original (values) I just bought the premium quality mostly Japan and U.S. made. For goodness sake never buy any made in China!!! Parts are cheap even the best of the lot. I am afraid that is all I can help
  19. I recapped the original crossover as well with best parts I could find and happy with the result.
  20. Willmax, sounds great!!
  21. Thanks to members who like/love what I wrote or done on my Tannoy project. Happy to answer any question about my project.
  22. Here we go sharing my experience in this thread with a DIY pair of back loaded horn 12 inch MG Tannoy enclosure designed and made by myself. Of course I didn’t invent it but much time had been spend on searching for spin-offs and past success stories. All parts were sub contracted out for CNC machined and assembling was done in my garage. Each and every piece of timber is of European Birch ply and was a gamble. Spend many tedious hours putting the bits together, sanding and polishing on something of unknown and untested. The hard part is when about three quarter of the parts are assembled it gets bulky and too heavy for an old retiree like me. Flipping and moving it around requires the help of my son. This is my first attempt designing and building a speaker enclosure but it finally paid off and absolutely happy with the result with great satisfaction and risk worth taking. As for the tweeter, I listened to some factory 10 and 12 inch Tannoy with Tannoy 100 and 200 tweeters and I like it personally. So adding a pair of tweeter is the direction I’ll like to go and a pair of Elac 4pi Plus.2 super tweeter was added in the hope of adding more life and soundstage as it’s an omni directional (circular dispersion) unit. Personally I was very happy with the whole experiences. Thanks to members who like/love what I wrote or done on my Tannoy project. Happy to answer any question about my project.

  24. I have a 205CIIS with a brand new original 206C stylus. The stylus was in a sealed box and I had it opened for a comparison trial of no more than 20 hours. The 205CIIS cartridge is in very good condition. Please PM if you are keen.
  25. Try Nagra VPA mono block 50 watts per channel built like a tank by Swiss since 1998 and still making them.
