  1. This is my 1930's RCA transcription turntable. I am customising it and this is a mock up plinth. I am using the original bearing box but replaced the planetary gearbox with Teflon bearings. 16" aluminium platter and steel flywheel below. I plan to elevate the 10kg platter/flywheel with rare earth magnets. It will run 12" jelco tone arm and a Hana MC. It will be belt driven.
  2. Here is a youtube clip of my Linn Troika playing some PURE ANALOGUE. The music will not be to everybody's taste but it is pure analogue from source.
  3. How much are you wanting for the Six? I am currently running the Four pre amp but have always wanted to get a Six for that beautiful Mode select.
  4. My is my poor old fellow in action on some music most people will cringe at. (Electronic Techno) I was archiving some records for internet prosteriety. http://www.youtube.com/user/nathnullobject#p/u/15/iYPiyhPHBdQ Linn Troika on an Ittok II arm On a Linn Sondek LP12. Power supply has a problem and is creating hum and buzz but I haven't had time to have a look into it. I use the Phono Pre in my Classe Audio 4 pre amp.
  5. A little off topic but some of you will know the name Bob MOOG ? The synthesizer designer. Realistic commissioned Moog to build the Realistic MG-1 synth. This is a realistic badged Moog synth and has all the beautiful warmth of a Moog because it is a Moog. I guess Realistic could have had a few speaker designers do the same?
  6. Hello, I am a noob here and a bit of a noob in the hifi world too. I had the choice of a VPI or a LP12. I took the LP12 becaust it had a valhalla power supply, Ittok II arm and a Troika cartrage. being quite young at the time I got it almost 10 years ago, (25) I should have went with the VPI simply dur to the fact that in that time I have had 8 house moves, lots of drunk parties, a bunch of mishaps removing the lid etc. I'm sure it's all out of whack but I am still in the process of settling and the speakers are off getting repaired anyway. The suspension system is very delicate and I think I would have prefered the VPI. Still sounds great though.
  7. Hi there, this is a little off topic but I thought I'd post my first with an idea I read once in a HIFI magazine. depending on your house and style of floor you could always spend a weekend jacking up your floor from beneith. If you have floor boards in a typical aussie bungalow, shoot out to the car wreckers and buy yourself a dozen jacks. Goto a wood supply company and nick some offcuts and simply build some supports to hold the jack and jack it up to brace the floor. This would greatly improve the sound of the room and It would cost hardly anything. If Rudd gives me enough in this bonus thingo, I'll buy a nice house and do that.
