I have a Yamaha RX-V3800 that I no longer require (hope this isn't a hijack). Similarly, it doesn't have the latest codecs (Atmos, DTS:X) and features. Ideas on sale price?

Just dropping by to say that my 70" SXRD is still going strong and in daily use. Bought in 2007, OB repaired 2009, OB replaced 2011, no issues since. Currently sitting at 29673 hours.

European Electronics did mine, so they also have my old optical block, which had no convergence issues.

European Electronics in Melbourne repair the optical blocks by replacing the LCD panel. They claim that new blocks are not available. Owen, whilst $554 is better than $1541, it is still $500 that I could use better elsewhere. I didn't plan on spending $500-odd dollars every 2 years to repair this TV when I purchased it! Steve

I finally received a response from Sony regarding out-of-warranty assistance for the repair of my TV. It took quite a while, apparently they never received the letter sent via registered mail. It took 2 weeks of phone calls for them to inform me of this. Eventually, I sent a copy via email. Just to re-cap, the optical block has failed. I purchased the TV in 2007; optical block failed and replaced in 2009. Now defective again, same issue. I do not have extended warranty insurance (only an extra 12 months which was provided by my credit card provider). Below is the letter received today. Notice where they state that they "do not recognise or identify this as a ‘common fault’ in this model." So, I guess I will have to pay the balance and then pursue reimbursement through VCAT. I think that I should be able to compile sufficient evidence that this IS a common problem! I finally got around to contacting Sony about mine, which started going green in December last year. Initially, only I could see it but by March the rest of the family were commenting on it. I managed to play around with the nVidia settings (cut down on blue) in my HTPC to improve things (quite markedly, actually) but Foxtel is terrible. Anyway, Sony arranged to send out a tech from European Appliances. It took him 2 seconds to diagnose the issue, but they couldn't take my word for it. They came back with a quote of approx. $1500 and Sony have offered out of warranty assistance (I don't have extended warranty), which would leave me with a total outlay of approx $500. I have argued that I should not have any out of pocket expense, especially when this same issue was reported and repaired 2 years ago (they replaced the block that time, now they refurbish them). The Sony contact said that's all they can offer and if I don't like it, then I should call consumer affairs. I just called consumer affairs Victoria and was advised to send a letter of demand for full repair at no cost to me else take it to VCAT. Funny that Sony told me to call consumer affairs, they must have known what advice I would be given. Prior to that call, I would have been happy to negotiate a $200-300 contribution by me. Hello, I am using Catalyst 10.12 however the fix is not as good as I first thought! Mostly, it works and I have no issues switching between sources (sound does not disappear) however it still sometimes becomes "unplugged" overnight. This is compounded by a new issue - a distinct blue push on the graphics which greatly distorts the colour. This always coincides with the sound unplugged, and never occurs whilst using the computer. Again, the only solution is a re-start. Good luck.

I have a few DVD-A (DVD Audio) discs that just don't get used, probably played less than 10 times each over the last 5-8 years. So, I have decided to sell them - but where? I had a quick look on eBay, but their listings for DVD Audio are just audio DVDs, not high resolution DVD-A. I'm worried that if I list them there, then they will get lost amongst the standard DVDs, and that people wont realise what they are. I also have no idea how much to expect. I remember seeing that "Eagles - Hotel California" was well sort after, selling for in excess of $100 but is that still current? Any ideas?

Success! I had not disabled onboard audio in bios until I started experiencing issues however I had never installed the drivers for onboard audio. So, first I uninstalled all display drivers and sound drivers, then used pnputil to remove all traces of previous drivers, then driver sweep. Now I re-enabled the onboard audio in bios, and installed drivers for onboard audio then installed latest Catalyst suite and set AMD HDMI audio as default. So far its working well.

That's very interesting. So you made no other changes and the problem disappeared? I might have to experiment with a different display connected. Did you have speakers on your SXRD, or disconnected and disabled?

Can't see any mention of HDCP in ATI Catalyst Control, nor in audio driver settings. Perhaps HDCP issue arising when receiver/TV turned off? Now, how to bypass?

Hello, I have an ATI 5770 graphics card, connected via HDMI to a Yamaha RX-V3800 receiver, which is connected to a Sony SXRD TV via HDMI (in fact, all inputs to the receiver are hdmi, and only one output, via hdmi). I have no issues with picture/graphics but the audio regularly disappears! If I turn off the receiver, but leave pc on (usually always on), then audio becomes unavailable next time I turn the receiver on (HTPC Control Panel advices that "HDMI audio device not plugged in"). The same thing happens when I turn the TV off (with receiver still on) and even when accessing the menu on the receiver. I assume that it is a HDMI handshaking issue, but how to fix? Currently, my only solution is to reboot every time (pita). Sometimes, I can uninstall then re-install via Device Manager to fix the issue, but usually only a reboot will fix it. I have disabled "AMD External Events Utility", disabled all other audio devices, and tried latest Realtek and ATI hdmi audio drivers. I need a method to tell the card not to check for a device at the other end of the HDMI cable, or to assume that the receiver is on. Curious that it only affects audio and not graphics. Any ideas?

I need to change my vote! Initially stated that replacement block fixed the problem however I now have a yellow tinge back! This time, it is not a blob in the middle of the screen, it is 2 circles of yellow, the outer one only visible at the corners of the screen. At this stage, I can live with it and the rest of my family can't see it but its still annoying! Hopefully it doesn't get worse. Steve
