  1. Upgrading my speakers, strictly for 2channel, found i'm really getting into a dedicated 2channel system that can cater well for home theatre, ideally i want a pair of full range speakers, as i do not use a sub for music, but i must admit, that for home theatre the dynamics and directivity of the klipsch, still has yet to excite me the way of klipsch.
  2. Speaker wise, Ambiences sucked! IMO, they had no bass at all, like a giant tweeter, The jupiters were real nice, my mates osborn epitomes were also great, great defined and strong bass even though he didnt have bass modules.., the klipsch were too similiar to what i already have, the wilsons and PMC's were way out my range, Amp wise, Loved the ME's, and the Elektras, the valves were initially not my thing, but i can see how i'd have to get used to it..., the parasound halos, are a tad overpriced for what they sound like, the me's and elektra, leave it for dead....
  3. currently i'm running 1070(measly!!), Rotel Digital amps, actually i was a tad dissapointed, i was expecting quite an amp, after reading opinions over at clubrotel, but i just felt the 1090, had more oomph in the bass dept, this maybe a good since the rotel amps had a rep to exaggerate the bass a bit more, maybe the digital amps had more defined bass, yet seemed a little lean.Warm mids and the rolled of highs are still trademark rotel though
  4. Speaker wise i have auditioned: Ambience superslim1800, ultra 1600 and 1400, B&W 802D(out of price range), NHT T5, Equinox jupiter, Osborn epitome MkVI(no bass modules), Klipsch reference rf83, PMC ob1, Wilson puppies Amps i have heard: Rotel 1080, 1090, 1092, 1077, Elektra theatron and reference, Cyber M800 valve monoblocs, ME 550 and 850, Parasound Halo range, and a couple of 2channel valve pre's still have to audition a few more, i'm leaving to singapore on the 24th, hopefully try and audition some exotics over there....
  5. yeah i didnt find many differences between the me550 and 850 when driving the jupiters, but just a tad more bass control with the 850, yes alebonau elektras sure are still on the list...
  6. Hey Mikey, good to see you back mate!.. we sure did miss ya, ahh actually i cancelled the order on the equinox speakers, as i need to audition more speakers....
  7. Hi guys, I've decided to start to sell my existing equipment, in order to make way for my next speaker upgrade (havent made a firm decision yet). The package up for offer consists of Klipsch Reference RF35 (mains) rrp $2099 Klipsch Reference RC35 (Centre) rrp $849 Klipsch Reference RB15 (Rears)rrp $649 Buying this system currently would set you back a tad under $3600 As i have only owned them for 8 months, and hardly used them I am offering this package in mint condition, for $2650, o.n.o Pick up is preferred as shipping these beasts would be a real pain Residing in South Western Suburbs of Sydney Interested bidders, please feel free to PM me any offers..... 9. Many people have seen Christopher M.J.T's post as offensive and possibly harrasment, but hey i totally agree with his point, number 1, this a freaking WIDESCREEN TV MONITORS & DISPLAYS thread, we dont need a hn salesman whinging as he cant make money on his sales..., its like that everywhere you go, if Harvery Norman cant match the price then, Bing Lee, JB, Good Guys or CLive peters will....besdies as consumers were all here to get the best price..., HN operative's post seems a little threatening IMO great read btw...
  10. as mentioned above, just save up here n their, i had badly cut of the habit on bumming around at uni, i figured i was spending about 50bucks a day just on bummiing around (food, pool and whatever else comes up), hehe and yeah a second job.. i always try and go that extra step, so i know i get the good stuff, and have no buyers remorse....which obviously means waiting longer for finances...
  11. wow that would sound bloody great esp with the meridian getting all that high quality drive from the 550....., i think for the time bieng i'm just going to run the meridian off my 1075, with the solstice, then after finances start flowing again, prob also opt for something a bit beefier to power the meridian, maybe a 550 (if theirs one around), or a nice monoblock....
  12. heheh i think me and geoff, will be selling of a quite a bit of gear in the near future....
  13. or maybe even the room wacko2, they did dig deep, more than i expected out of them..., but i felt it was a tad little lean, again maybe the room, but the bass drive was much more competent and solid with the jupiters..... dont know whether they can produce 22hz, or not, but speaking to rick the jupiters, were actually measured once to go down to 18hz.., depending on the room, but they will easily reproduce anything down to 26Hz (by spec), i guess anything under that goes with or with out correct room acoustics and placement..
  14. i actually auditioned a lot of imported speakers, ranging from klipsch to B&W, the b&w's were very nice indeed, but way out of my range..., tried the PMC ob1, again very smooth midrange, but just a tad lacking in the bass dept..., tried a pair of NHT T6 floorstanders with the bass unit..., again wonderful sound, but at 9000, the juptiers really did leave them standing.... i even listened to a pair of ribbons...., (ambience 1800 super slims), but it actually felt like i was just listening to a pair of awesome Tweeters..., totally lacking any bass authority...(maybe the setup).... Listened to pair of Martin Logan Vantage, while they probably reproduced live music, most accuratley and had the most atmospheric character out of all, they really did need superior amplification out of this world....... btw i'm still contemplating between the Apogees or the jupiters..... cheers nobby...
  15. thanks mate, yeah sure am excited, couldnt sleep last night!!
  16. wow nobby, nice room. love the colours.... btw those speakers look out of this world, very grooovy...., those subs really look the part..., hope to be their one day mate...., well done... but the big question is, IS it finally complete!??
  17. thanks spearmint, now for the long wait, ah well i guess it'll all be worth it, gives me some time, to treat my room acoustically.......
  18. WOW you got the ME 850??? Well done mate congrats..., it surely did put away any power insecurities i was having with the ME 550... i spoke to rick today, he said your were edging for one??!! Well Done, yeah they really do drive a big soundstage with the equinox, especially in the bass dept....
  19. yeah i guess everyone to their own, but if it was a choice between the me 550 mkII and the reference i would probable opt for the reference..., but hey you never know, if i can get a hold of an elektra reference for under 3000, then i might have to opt for it....., as i said its just a deposit....
  20. rick did give me a sweet deal that i couldnt pass up, so the value over the elektra was there..., infact i tried many imports and not many aussie made speakers, but then after i auditioned the elektras, i realised aussie made speakers were the way to go....
  21. well guys back for a dramatic update.. i just got back from Ricks place, with a girn still on my face.. firstly i'd like to thank rick, for bieng so informative, and with not a salesman attitude....i guess he doesnt need to, he can let his speakers do the talking.. the jupiters are infact a fine specimen, built like a tank styled by gucci, and a finish to match all i needed was 10 minutes of auditioning of the juptiers and i was sold... we ran both the ME 550, and the ME 850.. the ME 550 was more than capable, didnt seem like breaking a sweat...., but i felt that the 850's bass drive was superb, and held more control.... the imaging of these speakers are truly out of this world, all the vocals were placed dead centre between the giants.., and the soundstage that was created hid the two towers immensly, it was like bieng in a front row of a live concert...., every instrument was clearly delivered in a natural tone, truly breathtaking..., the bass was a bit heavy, but thats the way i like it, but this was due to the rooms constrictions which were 3.5m by 6.7m approx (correct me if i'm wrong rick), as i said, all i needed was approx 10 mins of listening to my cd's, that 30mins later i was laying a deposit on the Jupiters, Meridian and two pairs of eclipse (might change to one pair solstice and one pair eclipse later on).. i also put a deposit down for a ME 850 amplifier, it was as if these were a match made in heaven for the Jupiters, well they are kind of as the jupiters were voiced with the range of Me amps... the Me 850 is in fact in a different league to the Elektra reference IMO, even though a tad more expensive, this is one amp, that will last me a lifetime i reckon....., now i know that my room might be a bit smallish for the jupiters, i'm going to have to speak to rick further about this... but all in all very impressed by equinox and Rick & Trish...., their projects truly are impressive and larger than life...., build quality is first class.....
  22. nice write up mate, impressive cabling.... just shows the improvements, that can be squeezed through the cabling..
  23. yeh from my experience the REW won't let you start the tones before the mic is calibrated and all levels are correctly set, to a reference point....
