Selling a pair of Interdyn BT2 floorstander speakers. Interdyn was the house brand of Encel Hifi with the speakers being made by what is now Aranmar Acoustics in Melbourne. The Interdyn range were designed and built by Aranmar and used Seas drivers and quality crossover components. The BT2 was the pick of the Interdyn range with two six inch mid bass drivers and an aluminium dome tweeter running as a two way.
They are around 1100 high, 450 deep and 210 wide weighing in at around 30kg’s.
I bought these from the original owner’s family about three months ago. The owner was using them with some quality electronics which unfortunately had been sold as had his substantial vinyl collection. The owner had passed away.
Mine are a real jarrah wood veneer and as can be seen in the photos there is some fading on one side of the cabinets. Unfortunately Jarrah seems to be susceptible to fading. Otherwise these are in very good condition and with some effort could be re-finished and look like new. The grills are in excellent condition.
I’m using these as a HT rears but realised that whilst they make an excellent surround speaker they are too big for what I need.
I can’t really use them as mains as I don’t own a two channel amp. I can demo them to show that all the drivers are operating but a full sound demo isn’t really possible with the gear I have on hand. And to be honest for the money they are worth grabbing if you want a quality pair of larger speakers.
About 15 years ago I owned another pair and ran them with a few different power amps. They really punched above their weight and scaled up nicely with better quality amps.
I would really prefer these went to someone who will use them and not just as a quick profit.
Pick up only.

### Sound Quality
- Midrange: Described as "very nice," particularly for female vocals.
- Bass: "Surprisingly decent" from two 6-inch woofers, though one user noted it lacks punch when paired with a low-power amp (Onkyo A9110 at 50Wpc), sounding "nice" overall but needing more drive for genres like drum and bass/hip-hop.
- General impression: Capable of crisp, balanced sound with potential for improvement via better amplification (e.g., Cambridge Audio CXA81 suggested).
### Build Quality
- Feature beautiful timber veneer, curved front edges, and real wood cabinets; called "really beautiful looking speakers" and in "excellent condition" when well-maintained.
- Use high-quality SEAS drivers and well-designed crossovers, contributing to their appeal.
- Large and bulky design.
### Reliability
- Mixed: One owner reported two bass drivers and tweeters recently replaced by the previous owner, indicating possible need for repairs over time despite recent servicing.
- Sought after as durable classics, with design records still held by Acousticoncepts for parts.
### Strengths
- Excellent midrange and aesthetics.
- Good bass capability for size; uses premium SEAS drivers.
- Sought-after status alongside models like the P33, with used market value $500–$800 AUD depending on condition.
### Weaknesses
- Lacks punch and full potential with underpowered amps; sensitive to setup (e.g., cabling, bi-wiring debated).
- Scarce specs/data available, complicating pairings.
- Repair history suggests potential driver issues with age.
### Overall Reputation
Positive among enthusiasts for value and performance as Melbourne-made vintage speakers using SEAS components; actively wanted in second-hand markets, with owners motivated to optimize setups. Limited reviews highlight them as hidden gems rather than mainstream, with acclaim for midrange and looks outweighing minor reliability notes.
Prices vary significantly by condition (e.g., excellent vs. good) and veneer quality, with no new units listed in current data, indicating these are vintage Melbourne-made speakers primarily sold used.
Key factors affecting value:
- Condition: Excellent listings at AUD $550; higher offers possible for immaculate units.
