The legendary Greg Timbers' best loudspeaker yet, that he uses himself at home.
These are end-game speakers in any audiophile's journey.
As they say, nothing is forever. My audiophile journey was hard and fast, moving up many rungs of the ladder fast. I found what I was looking for and to this day, in my quest I have not yet heard something better. Alas, I've scratched that itch, and life circumstances change. We're about to embark on the next chapter of our journey as a family and the Everests don't look to feature in our anticipated style of living.
It's time to pass them on. They are the only pair of current model DD67000 to be officially delivered and sold into Australia via Harman.
Quote Designed and engineered in JBL’s world-famous acoustic engineering facility in Northridge, California, and using the most advanced technologies and best components available, Project Everest DD67000 is one of the most sophisticated and sought-after speaker system available at any price. This three-way speaker features dual 15-inch (380mm) three-layer sandwich cone woofers, a 4-inch (100mm) pure beryllium compression driver and a 1-inch (25mm) pure-beryllium ultra high-frequency driver for a superlative listening experience.

These are factory Rosewood finish, and I had them professionally wrapped with high-end 3M automotive grade vinyl in a Porsche silver/grey metallic vinyl. It is 100% reversible - but personally I think they look much classier in this finish myself.
I still have the original packaging/cartons, and all literature that was supplied with them in my local storage unit. Freight would be posssible at buyer's cost, but I would help organise the logistics.
They will also be supplied with a complete set of Isoacoustics Titan isolation feet, along with custom made adaptors to suit the Everests. From memory, it was around $5,000 worth at retail price at the time.
I understand the wait time for a new pair of Everests has always been around 12 months, but heard recently it has blown out to 18 months now.
They present "As New", but I have marked them as Excellent according to StereoNET's own condition guidelines.
I took delivery towards the end of COVID lockdowns. They have been lovingly used, but not abused. Happy to answer any further questions.
Audition is technically possible, but note they are running as part of an integrated AV system now, powered by Mark Levinson ML50 Limited Edition mono amplifiers.

### Sound Quality
- Strengths: Reviewers highlight shockingly realistic timbre and transient attack on instruments like trumpets, saxophones, and percussion, with lifelike treble, superb high-frequency extension, and bone-crushing dynamics that excel at high SPLs for rock, pop, and electronica. Bass delivers exceptional purity, control, and slam (down to ~30-43Hz with low distortion at 0.02%), feeling powerful yet detached due to precise control; transparency, imaging, and soundstage create an immersive, "live" presence in large rooms, revealing fine details in recordings. Many describe it as revelatory, like sitting in a studio control room.
- Weaknesses: Some note a bipolar, unsmooth performance with aggressive horn coloration, nasality, or distortion in upper bass/midrange on energetic tracks, making it less neutral; treble can sound bright, hard, or brash. Bass extension rolls off below 70Hz for high sensitivity, potentially needing room modes or a subwoofer.
### Build Quality
- Superb fit and finish, with heavy construction (142kg each, 250L enclosure housing dual 15" woofers, horn mid/treble, and super tweeter) suggesting quality components; easy setup and dead-silent noise floor when idle. Minor complaints include clunky packaging and unclear access to power meters without a manual.
### Reliability
- Limited direct feedback, but users report no major failures; one mentions streaming dropouts possibly due to WiFi/BT or app issues, not the speakers themselves. Paired successfully with high-end amps like Mark Levinson No53 or Ayre AX-5, revealing amp quality but handling low-power amps well due to high sensitivity.
### Overall Reputation
- Highly regarded as a "super speaker" for those prioritizing power, openness, and scale in big rooms, with many calling it awesome, dream-like, and unmatched in presence—leading to "hi-fi epiphanies." However, polarizing: not for neutrality seekers due to colorations; one forum user called it "quite poor" (bright/hard), but most counter that it's not "very bad" and excels in realism. Australian-delivered versions lack specific mentions, but general praise dominates high-end discussions.
### Price Range Breakdown
- New condition: Around AUD 139,000, as indicated by a flagship model listing from an Australian retailer (Brisbane HiFi), explicitly noting the $139k price for this super rare model. US listings for brand-new units at approximately USD 60,000 (around AUD 90,000 at current exchange rates) suggest a premium for official Australian delivery, likely due to import duties, taxes, and local certification.
- Used/trade-in condition: Typically 10–30% below new, potentially AUD 90,000–120,000, inferred from the rarity and high-end status with no recent Australian used sales listed; international used prices reach up to USD 73,000 (around AUD 110,000).
### Key Factors Affecting Value
- Condition: New or mint units command full price due to premium components like dual 15-inch woofers and pure-beryllium drivers; used value drops with wear, original packaging absence, or repairs needed.
- Rarity and official Australian delivery: Described as "super rare" in Australia, with local JBL site support elevating value over grey imports; finishes (e.g., Rosewood) add appeal.
- Market location: Australian prices exceed US equivalents due to shipping, GST, and demand in high-end hi-fi market; no active Australian used listings found recently.
- Other influences: Amplifier compatibility (500W recommended), bi-wiring options, and pristine enclosure condition impact desirability; trade-ins like the noted example may negotiate lower.
Prices are conservative estimates based on 2025–2026 listings, as direct Australian user-reported sales are scarce; values could fluctuate with economic factors or new stock availability.
