The new model follows closely behind the recently announced Raidho X1.6 Reference, which StereoNET covered as a compact standmount designed to deliver a bigger and more complete sound than its size might suggest. Where that speaker focused on extracting surprising scale from a smaller enclosure, the X2.8 moves the same conversation into a larger floorstanding format.

Hand-built in Denmark, the X2.8 is positioned as a serious full-range loudspeaker within Raidho’s more accessible X Series, while still drawing heavily on the company’s in-house driver development and hand-built construction methods. Raidho is leaning into the craftsmanship angle here, although the more interesting story is how much of the brand’s established engineering language has been brought into this new model.

The X2.8 uses a three-way configuration with two 8-inch aluminium/ceramic bass drivers, which Raidho says help the speaker reach down to 32Hz. That should give it a substantially more physical presentation than the smaller X1.6 Reference, particularly for listeners who want the weight of a double bass, kick drum or large-scale piano without stepping into the company’s more expensive ranges.

As with the X1.6 Reference, Raidho is again making its in-house driver platform central to the story. The X2.8 uses the company’s ribbon tweeter, a design Raidho says has a moving mass around 50 times lower than a conventional dome tweeter. The aim is not simply more treble detail, but the speed and openness that have long been part of Raidho’s sonic identity.

The aluminium/ceramic bass drivers follow a similar philosophy, combining stiffness with self-damping to deliver controlled low-frequency output without losing definition or timing. That is where larger loudspeakers can sometimes go wrong. Bass quantity is one thing; keeping it agile and properly integrated is usually the harder part.

The internal construction is also being treated as a major part of the X2.8’s appeal. Raidho says the crossover is built by hand using Mundorf components, Nordost cable and hand-made point-to-point wiring. It is the sort of detail that rarely appears in a showroom glamour shot, but it can be central to how naturally a loudspeaker hands over between drivers and maintains coherence at higher listening levels.

Morten Kim Nielsen, CEO of Raidho Acoustics, said the X2.8 had exceeded the company’s expectations:

The new X2.8 has turned out way beyond our expectations. It has the physical foundation of a serious full-range loudspeaker, but it also carries the speed, transparency and emotional connection that make Raidho special. To us, this is not just a bigger loudspeaker. It is a statement loudspeaker in the X series.

That “statement loudspeaker” positioning is important, as the X2.8 appears to be less about adding another floorstander for the sake of range completion and more about giving the X Series a model with genuine room-filling authority. It also gives Raidho a natural step-up path for listeners drawn to the compact X1.6 Reference but wanting greater bass extension and dynamic scale.

The Raidho X2.8 will be available from September 2026 in black high gloss, white high gloss and walnut veneer finishes. Pricing is listed at €27,000 for the gloss finishes and €30,000 for walnut veneer.
