Magnat's new pair of compact, contemporarily-styled and premium standmount speakers, the Signature Edelstein, deliver what Magnat states is "outstanding performance across the entire audio spectrum".
The Signature Edelstein is a two-way reflex design featuring a 1-inch dual-compound fabric dome tweeter with an extra-wide surround dubbed the "Spherical Wave-Guide", designed to disperse high frequencies above 20kHz more effectively while minimising vibrations to the tweeter itself.
Meanwhile, the 4.5-inch mid/bass driver is pitched by the German audio brand as "a masterpiece in distortion-free audio reproduction" thanks to its layered 3L Sandwich Diaphragm construction, consisting of ceramic, magnesium and aluminium layers and topped off by an inverted dust cap. Coupled with a Kapton voice coil for stable current delivery and housed within a non-magnetic aluminium die-cast basket for absolute stability, we're assured that "the Signature Edelstein are capable of remarkable clarity and efficiency considering their size".
The Signature Edelstein also boasts a premium crossover design, constructed using high-end components and features a low-impedance bass-midrange section that's said to reduce electrical loss. At the same time, internal oxygen-free copper cabling "ensures pristine signal transmission," and the speaker terminals are milled aluminium with gold-plated connectors.
The resulting 90dB quoted sensitivity should result in easy amplifier matching. Furthermore, the 45 – 38,000 Hz (-6dB) claimed frequency response and 34 – 50,000 Hz frequency range will cover most people's requirements in a smallish space.
The MDF cabinets are equipped with a brushed solid aluminium front plate and come in a choice of silk-matte black or satin white.
Additionally, each speaker has a dual-layer base plate made of acrylic glass and solid aluminium that further helps minimise vibrations. You also get detachable grilles to protect from inquisitive fingers and paws.
Starting this month, the Magnat Signature Edelstein standmount speakers are available in the UK with an SRP of £949 per pair.
