Goldmund Ouranos Excellence Promises Gold Standard Cinematic Sound

Goldmund's Ouranos Excellence is the Swiss brand’s latest multi-channel processor for exclusive home cinemas.
Goldmund has drawn the curtain back on its latest high-end home cinema processor, calling it the “ultimate choice for audiophiles and home theatre enthusiasts”.

The Ouranos Excellence features “state-of-the-art components” and user-friendly design upgrades, allowing it to handle multiple speakers as well as digital and analogue audio sources.
Described as a "no-compromise" 16-channel acoustic processor, the Ouranos Excellence includes Goldmund's next-generation DSP module running at 96 kHz 24-bit with plenty of external DDR RAM, unique room-optimisation technology, and a completely redesigned user interface, according to the Swiss maker.
Goldmund emphasises that this is more than just an upgrade of the Ouranos Signature. The Excellence has a brand-new electronic system built from scratch, making it their “most advanced processor to date.”

The main board includes precise clock generation and synchronisation to reduce jitter and keep all 16 audio channels perfectly in sync.
It also features Goldmund's latest Proteus HT multichannel algorithm, which provides advanced room correction by creating optimal sound settings and uploading them straight to the processor's DSP.
Furthermore, the Ouranos Excellence is compatible with Goldmund's range of active speakers, which features the brand's Leonardo time-correction technology built into each speaker unit.
However, if you have your eyes on Goldmund’s passive speaker offerings, such as the Tethys, Rhea, Asteria, or Theia, the new Ouranos processor also supports Leonardo processing by uploading settings to its DSP.

The new decoder module supports all types of cinema audio formats, while the redesigned HDMI module includes a sophisticated repeater and very high-frequency signal-handling capabilities.
The Goldmund Ouranos Excellence costs 60,000 CHF, roughly £58,000 or US$78,000. Remember to budget for suitable amplification too.
