Devialet Phantom Ultimate CI Gets Wired for Dante

Devialet has adapted its distinctive Phantom Ultimate active loudspeaker for custom-installed systems, replacing consumer Wi-Fi and Bluetooth streaming with native Audinate Dante and Audio over IP networking.

Available in 98 dB and 108 dB versions, the Phantom Ultimate CI is intended for luxury multiroom systems, private home cinemas and commercial spaces where wired performance, centralised control and reliable synchronisation matter more than app-based convenience.

Each speaker connects directly to a network switch over standard Ethernet, allowing uncompressed audio to be routed without external Dante converters or adapters. Devialet says the underlying Dante Embedded Platform supports up to 128 input and 128 output channels, giving integrators scope to build considerably larger systems than a conventional stereo or single-room installation.

The two Phantom Ultimate CI models can also be mixed on the same Dante or Audio over IP network. That could allow the larger 108 dB version to handle a cinema or principal listening room, while the more compact 98 dB model serves secondary rooms and smaller spaces.

An open native IP control API and browser-based administration interface allow installers to configure, restrict and monitor the speakers, including setting maximum volume levels. Certified control drivers for Crestron, Crestron Home, Savant, Control4, RTI and NICE/ELAN are scheduled to arrive later in 2026.

Devialet has not indicated support for Power over Ethernet, so the network connection should be regarded as carrying audio and control rather than replacing the speaker’s mains power cable.

Acoustically, the CI models closely follow their consumer counterparts. The Phantom Ultimate CI 108 dB combines 1,100W of amplification with a claimed frequency response of 14Hz to 35kHz, measured at ±6dB. The smaller 98 dB model delivers 400W and covers a claimed 18Hz to 25kHz. Both process audio at 32-bit/96kHz and have a specified system latency of 18 milliseconds.

The speakers arrive in Monitoring Mode by default, which Devialet describes as providing a flat, neutral response. Room correction, tonal adjustment and channel management are instead expected to be handled upstream through a Dante matrix or external digital signal processor.

StereoNET recently reviewed the conventional Phantom Ultimate 108 dB, awarding it an Applause Award for its powerful low-frequency performance, natural tonality and ability to work across stereo, multiroom and home cinema applications. Our reviewer did note that its opposed side-firing woofers require some care with room placement, something integrators will still need to consider with the CI edition.

Light Pearl, Deep Forest and the hand-gilded Opéra de Paris finish will be offered, accompanied by Treepod, Tree and Gecko mounting accessories. Every Phantom Ultimate CI speaker will also include a five-year Devialet Care professional warranty.

The range will make its public debut at CEDIA Expo 2026, running from 1 to 4 September at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Devialet has yet to announce pricing, ordering details or a firm delivery date, with Australian and UK availability also still to be confirmed.
