Yeah, no soldering on the new premium version. I didn't get any instructions, just went to the eBay sellers item pictures

It was super easy, and for 199 bucks it's made a huge difference to the depth of my AT440 cart. I'm going to test run it through my linn tomorrow with the little bear MC head amp I bought. Just to see if it makes any difference on my AT MC cart

So this is the T10 Pro you've just done ?  At least you can advise me if I can't work out where to screw things ;) (when I get to it)

Is that the T8-1 Step up for MC  ?

Was looking at the T10 for the secondary 'cheap and simple' system but keep on having 'upgrade' ideas and adding a separate phono will give me even more line level inputs than I have sockets for.  Would need a switching box or something.

The first system runs MCs so would need a step up to use the T10 with if it proved to be that good.

Yeah, here is a pic of the MC step up.. 38 bucks

Haven't even hooked it up yet. I'm rearranging my lounge room set up tomorrow and will test run it then. I'll let you know how it compares to my G.Slee MC phono stage

Omg!! The difference in sound out of my MA-Silver 8's between the e77esd and the new e86b preamp. I'm stoked... Might even just sell the e77esd :)

Did you give the step-up a try ?

Couple of guys on VinylEngine didn't like it.

First one had hum problems he couldn't fix so they're sending another one.

Second guy says it doesn't have enough gain for his Denon cart.

Comments to the second that the LB tube Phono has a high gain by itself.

Noticed anything unusual yourself ?

I found it flat and dull by itself, maybe not enough output boost. My E77ESD has a better phono stage for MC built in. I also have the E86B pre-amp and the MC stage on it is brilliant.. I haven't tried the LB tube with an MC cart by itself, I have it running an AT440mla MM cart. The Glaham Slee MC stage is miles ahead too. I kept it on the LP-12. I'll keep the LB step up as a back up, but it won't be in primary rotation for now.

Am wondering if the LB T8 step up was designed specifically to go with the LB tube phono if that has a high gain.

I'll do some research tonight. I'll let you know

Here is some more info on the T8-1

Notice:  this is Electronic Step-UP Transformer, I design it setp-up the voltage by FET (field-effect transistor.), no by the true transformer.

Something main function of this product:
This is a Electronic MC setp up transformer phono preamp. finished at 26th-May-2015, first version1.0, it's support MC(cartridge)type turntable only.match Cartridge impedance range: 20~100 Ohm. so.make sure your turntable is in that range.,I design this one for my T10 MM phono preamp, at before. there were so many buyer asked me to build one like this T8-1, and now.I've just finished it. you can perfect use it with my T10 phono preamp, upgrade your MM preamp right now if you has a MC turntable. also. this T8-1 also can work with your other MM phono preamp. no problem.. because it's output impedance :3~8mV at 47 kOhm / 100-300 pF ,just same as the normal MM turntable ,and i use many HiFi Electronic component on this product. Metal film resistors,ELNA Capacitance, gold RCA interface,. sound is very good. very low back noise. and sound is very clear. else, this preamp use Aluminum metal case.with BLACK and SILVER color for choice. you can pick correct one match for your other amplifier device. best quality.and nice look.you will like it.

Focus:

Cartridge impedance: 20~100 Ohm
· For cartridge output Voltage: 0,3-0,8 mV
· Electronic Transformer output loading:3~8mV at 47 kOhm / 100-300 pF
· Frequency response: 8 Hz - 100 kHz ± 0.5 dB
· Channel balance at 1 kHz: < 0,1 dB
· Channel separation at 1 kHz: > 90 dB
· Square wave rise time: < 3 µs
· Step up ratio: 1:10
· Dimensions: 25 x 100 x 150 mm
· Transformer weight: Approx. 0.35 kg
. Size:146*95*43mm (5.78*3.7*1.7inch)

Package included:

1 X Finished MC setup-up preamp

1 x power transformer  110V or 220V

Looks like it might have been the case.

Yeah, maybe the case.  I actually did not run it in conjunction with the T-10.  I have gone overseas again, but i will try it when i return home.  Maybe it just needs coupling with the right combination of equipment.  I cannot say enough good things about the T-10 Pro.  It has really made my ears happy with what it brings to the sound through my AT-440mla cartridge.  Previous to hooking it up I was considering retiring the 440mla as i just didn't rate the sound it produced through the normal MM phono stage on my E77ESD.  I will also try it with my Denon high output MC cart when i get home.  I love the sound of my DL-110 running on an SL-1200mk2 with KAB fluid dampening through the MM phono input on my E77ESD.  Might be even better through the T10 pro.  Might have to buy another one :)

Good to read you are liking the T10 just as it came.  Tearing them apart is the go at VinylEngine but I'd rather not do that.  Hell, I just want to use a thing not redesign it !

It's a bit down the list for me so I can wait until you try them together.  I have one system with MMs and the other with MCs.

Yeah, I'm the same, mind you, I might experiment with different tubes. My two main systems are running 2 turntables each. One has MC high output and MC low output and the other running two MM carts. I would like to test run a DL-103r on the second system eventually.

Tubes are like carts and styli and are designed to be changed.  I see it's set up with a switch for two different sort of tubes.  Let us know when you get to any 'tube rolling'.

My two systems are running 2 turntables each also.

I tried a Denon 103r but it didn't 'shine'.  I was told it was due to not being right with my non adjustable Phono stage.

Do you have switching boxes to select TT or do you have enough onboard inputs ?

The E86b has a great switchable phono stage input and the difference is amazing compared with the E77esd. I am running my Luxman TT through that phono stage. I am running one SL1200 with MM cart through the AUX input via the little bear. This is routed into my N80es and N77es which I am bi-amping into my monitor audio 8's

In the lounge I am running my Sony E77ESD, a linn LP-12 via Graham Slee MC stage through the AUX and one SL1200 with high output MC cart through the phono stage. This is being routed into my Technics 900s power amp into my Sony APM-22es speaks. The E77esd has heaps of inputs. More than I know what to do with :)

My DJ mixing set up is currently running 2 SL-1210's into an Ecler mixer and on to a Sony VTR-45 integrated.. These are powering my Monitor Audio Silver 2 monitor speaks

Yeah, I might start tube rolling next month :)
