Doc is waiting on me getting a full round of bloods and a complete physical before jumping to any conclusions. Felt very emotional talking to her but also a degree of relief for taking the first step.

Have bought a Swisse Mood supplement on the way back to the office. I couldn't care less if it's purely placebo, if it helps, it helps. http://www.swisse.com/au/vitamins-and-supplements/sleep-mood/81/swisse-ultiboost-mood

Jesus Christ, I would hope to get to the loo before you in the morning! :P

Glad you had a decent sleep @@blybo , as Kath and Kim used to say- clear the moind, clear the moooiind......of that didn't take long... :D

Gorgeous clear run this morning (the walk and wheeze part of it all are so small as to not warrant a mention, which is good), once out a km past any streetlights, the stars were clear enough to burn your hand on them I reckon, up in the 6 deg post dawn sky.

Immediately post surgery when I was restricted to seriously pureed veggies and stuff, that is the colour of what I was eating. Aaahhh, memories.

Todays juice was celery, carrot, capsicum, zucchini, left over salad mix and 2 red apples, basically what was in the fridge. It was lovely as I'm easing back into it with a bit more fruit than I normally would. I'll be buying some more celery, kale and beetroot this evening. I really like beetroot juice, but it's one of the few veggies I have to peel first.

I'm glad I don't have to live on just juice, but I have done a 4 day juice fast a couple of times. Day 2.5-end of day 3 were not nice, seriously the instinct/desire to chew on food was doing my head in, but on the 4th day I felt incredible, and had lost 5kg's the first time round. The second time I lost 2 kg's.  I always wondered how much of that weight in the first reboot was crap clogged up in my digestive system... Yuck. You are drinking so much water and juice, it can't be fluid weight loss.

Oh btw the way, I use an app called "I'm Done Drinking" to calculate the days since I'm done, $ saved and calories not consumed.

I would have thought one would have saved more money than that!

Do they drink XXXX Gold?

(spits on ground).

:D

I think I have saved around $6000 so far - averaging $30 a bottle of wine and one a night between my wife and I, and 3 over the weekend. Not that my bank account shows it...

Well, a minor setback has shown itself today. Have been back at work for three weeks and it appears to be having an effect upon my blood pressure. From a steady 140/80 it went to 150/90 a couple of weeks ago and was 140/96 today. As a precaution my doctor has put me back on the Atacand Plus 16mg, albeit a half a tablet a day for the moment. We will review it in two weeks time. She says I may be allergic to work.

Work is the curse of the drinking classes

@@blybo I'm a big fan of beetroot juice myself. My doctor has told me not to have beetroot juice for any more than two days in a row. It's too much of a good thing.

The best juice that I've made in recently contained half a dragon fruit, one beetroot, 1 cup of blueberries, 1 cup of spinach and one cup of mango with half a litre of coconut water. Makes one litre. Yum

Cheers,

Leigh

Ohhhh, back down to 81.5 kg this morning. Yippee. No tiramisu this week or eating out. Cooked at home instead. Much better for you I think.

@blybo; how went the knocking off the grog last night mate? And how are you feeling today?

Andy, you're a shining light. Just wanted to say so & say thanks for the input.

Hi Andrew. Things are good had 1 scotch Thursday night which was because the doc said not to go cold turkey. Then nothing Friday and a glass of sparkling Shiraz with the wife for our anniversary dinner last night.

Well done on the weight loss. I went for a ride yesterday, but was buggered after, and it was only 1 hour at med/high intensity. Shows how far my fitness has dropped.

Excellent news. That is wonderful. I bet the missus is happy with you, and you feel much better in consequence. 1hr on the bike? Nothing wrong with that. I'm buggered after doing the shopping this morning....

Interesting... This morning I had 1 Beetroot, 3 kale leaves, 2 celery storks, about 4 carrots, 1 cm cubed bit of ginger, 1/4 of a lemon (rind on) and a pear. Yum. My 2 young daughter even had a about a 1/4 of a cup each. I had 2 of the large tumblers seen above. Studies have shown that regular beetroot juice consumption has increased already extremely fit athletes VO2 Max by around 3-6%, basically your peak intensity of exercise. Pro cyclists and bi-athletes are usually the highest tested I believe.

That juice you suggest seems expensive to be making with any regularity, but very nice. I discovered Dragon fruit on my first trip to China but have never had as good locally. I also try and limit fruit as much as possible to keep the calories down.

Re drinking, I had a bit of peer group pressure get the better of me yesterday. Not sure what to think of it really. We had an early dinner with a family meet through my daughters kinder. Anyhoo, we started at 4:30 given such young kids on a "school night" and I had 3 light beers over the 3 hours I was there. I was then forced to take my light beer home and the rest of the 6 pack watching a replay of the Magpies v Tigers match and went to bed around 11:30. Never felt the slightest bit effected so I guess my system was getting rid of the alcohol as quickly as I was drinking it. My wife shared a bottle of Sparkling Shiraz with the other mother so there was no pressure or ill feelings there.

Feeling a bit off today after the beers over the weekend, will be good to run again in the morning.

Your body has intestinal memory too :hiccup . The first hangover is horrendous, then the more often you drink, your body soon deals with it pretty well... relatively speaking.

I've really enjoyed sleeping soundly and waking without a headache or need to skull some fizzy soft drink.

We have a school parents get together at a pub tonight. I've set myself a limit of 2 pots of light, or 1 glass of wine. I've been really happy how I've controlled urges to simply keep on going. Thursday and Saturday had 1 drink only and it didn't bother me. My main focus now is to not drink unless in a social setting... and we don't go out much.

That's well done @@blybo. You are showing admirable restraint (a King Crimson reference and a compliment rolled into one, btw). If your drinking is to be social and you don't go out much might I suggest that, should you notice in increase in your consumption, you need to alienate all your friends and acquaintaces as soon as is practical?

If they are not audio types this should be easy as all you would need to do is talking about your system interminably.

Most of my mates (aside from SNA) are cyclists and drinking is not high on the priority list. Especially at 6-7am when we often meet :o

G'day, 2 or months now or something like that since kicking the habit.

Have the odd social can, but that is about it. Wallet does not miss the trips to the bottle "o"
