im moving house into a small townhouse and no longer have access to the large living area of the other address-anyone got ideas what sort of changes i can make to sort of make a pair of floorstanting 2 1/2 way speakers "work" in a very small 8mx5m living room

any setup tips

thanks :P

Ant, 8mx5m isn't small. The main issue with units/town houses is adjoining open spaces like hallways and kitchen areas which act as bass traps. Second issue is that all the walls are generally rendered brick and reflect a lot of signal.

Like any room it's trail and error I'm afraid.

Main thing is to try and NOT place the speakers within a metre of a side wall (unless you want boomy bass).

Sure your not talking about my place Andrew? :-) Sounds just like my room acoustics nightmare. THe Pro 12 is going great guns by the way.

I sure am talking about your place.............and another unit I recently put a sub in.

Both with similar problems.

I'm glad the beast is performing to expectations. Have you done any further fiddling with xover points, slopes, etc?

The more these questions occur the more I think there should be a room treatment forum

Hey guys!

Guess I'm back...

Speakers and speaker placement, all other factors considered, remains a nightmare. Too much horsepower, over-exuberant midrange, echoes from a distant past... sounds like something we all learn to live with. So! Try this website.

Otherwise, be prepared to a: Spend a lottamoney OR

b: Cry a lottatears (of frustration).

The Golden rule is always Experimewnt, Experiment, Experiment. AND, if hose who are older and wiser offer advice? Bow in submission...
