Up for grabs are my much adored Klipsch Lascala Speakers.

The Klipsch LaScala’s have the following upgrades ( more info further below ) :

- ALK CrossOvers

- ALK Eliptrac HF Horn with B + C DE120 Tweeter Drivers

- WBT Speaker Binding Posts

- Bottom Ported Bass Mod

I have owned these for approx. 20 years. Before me, the 1st owner had them stored in a garage for countless years.

The time has come to move my Klispch LaScalas Speakers on, I am moving to houses and the new house and the living zones and doorways / entrances will not suit the LaScalas, the living zones are not ideally configured.

I have only seen 1 other set of Klipsch LaScala Speakers for sale in Australia in 15 years, December 2023 on SNA. Therefor, there are either only a few sets of Heritage Klipsch Lascala Speakers in Australia, or owners love them and do not sell them.

Sound

The Klipsch LaScalas do enjoy having room to breathe, they enjoy a medium to large room with a few meters separation between them for ideal Sound Staging.

With the ALK CrossOvers you can alter the attenuation for the Tweeter, I cant remember if you can do the same for the Mid Horn, I haven’t touched or altered anything for about 7 years.

In saying so, I do remember the ability to alter the attenuation was a fantastic inclusion.

The ALK CrossOvers made a huge improvement in sound, especially by "smoothing" the Mid Range Horn.

The upgraded ALK Eliptrac HF Horn with B + C DE120 Tweeter Drivers was a massive step up, the highs are simply clearer and smoother than the original Tweeters.

The Mid Horn does have the sort after and preferred K-55 Driver.

Overall the sound is very live and large. The added Ported Bass Mod definitely “fills the room more” and creates a lot more warmth and integrates and balances the mids and highs extremely well .

I have run the LaScalas with Luxman MQ3045 Valve Monoblocks, and the Valves simply make the sound liquid smooth and non-fatiguing.

With all the upgrades and using Valve Amps, these Klipsch LaScala Speakers are engaging and enjoyable, heaps more than a stock pair of heritage Klipsch LaScala Speakers

These are Original Lascalas with respectively matching serial numbers – 8445600 + 8445601. (see photos)

The paper work is in a folder and was removed when I purchased the Klipsch LaScalas to ensure they did not tear or rip when moving.

The HF Tweeters have been upgraded to:

- Eliptrac HF Horn with B + C DE120 Tweeter Drivers, the top of the line upgrade from ALK Engineering. ($220USD)

The Crossovers are also upgraded to:

- AP12-600 (mid range crosses in at 600Hz)

- AP15-6000 (HF range crosses in at 6000Hz)

(see photos, they are borrowed off the net as the cross over are installed)

Once again from ALK Engineering. ($730USD)

The Speaker Binding Posts Upgraded to :

- WBT Speaker Binding Posts from parts Express – about $320USD

All in all, I paid about $1800aud for the upgrades with delivery. (ALK price list attached from when i purchased)

Since I purchased the crossovers, ALK has changed them a little, therefore you will not see the exact same set up on the Website.

Visually - 7/10

The LaScala’s do have a few scratches and chips on the cabinets, hence the scratches from being in storage.

I have included images to show the imperfections, though not all are shown as I have not moved them out from where they sit. The Mid-Range Horn paint work has typically deteriorated over the years as with all Klipsch horns. (see photos)

I do not have any Grills - the original owner said they never came with grills

Structurally - 10/10

Physically the cabinets, speakers and drivers are in excellent condition. There is no cabinet rot or structural damage, they are rock solid !!

EXTRAS

I do have the original Crossovers and Tweeters (tweeters do not work) that you will receive. I am not too sure about the working condition of the crossovers, as they have sat in the garage for years. The Crossovers and Tweeters come as extras with no returns or complaints.

The LaScala speakers have the Ported Bass Mod added which extends the depth of the Lower Frequency. There is plenty of information about these in the Klipsch forums.

The Ported Bass Mod can easily be removed, which i can do for you, there is no structural change to the original cabinets.

The extra circle hole cut on the front of one of the Ported Bass Mod is my mistake and does not cut through the mod.

Auditions are most welcome for serious interested parties, I also encourage the purchaser to come and have a listen here.

I have put my Valve Amps in for servicing while I am moving, you will need to bring your own Valve Amp or I do I have a few integrated Amps to plug in and show the LaScala Speakers do work
