Savvas
Hi Folks, Very glad to be able to join Stereonet Oz! My wife has a set of Goodman's XB25 speakers to which she is very attached - she bought them back in the early '80s. They are largish 2-way bookshelf units (or alternatively small floor standers which is how she used them). They have been in storage for many years & on unearthing them in a recent clean out we discovered that the foam surrounds on the woofer/midrange speakers are badly deteriorated. I would appreciate your advice on options for repair or replacement please. The drivers have no markings on them indicating make or model. Does anyone know what they might be & if replacements (or equivalents) might be available? Alternatively, I have heard that speakers can be 'refoamed' - how hard is this & how does one go about it? The tweeters appear ok as do the crossovers (although no doubt the capacitors may need attention). Any advice much appreciated! ta, Sam in Adelaide. Savvas
No responses so maybe there aren't many of these speakers about... Can anyone tell me where I might start? Who do I go to for foam-surround repair kits for instance? Ta, Sam.
PhonoFix
PM sent. I am familiar with these speakers and have repaired them before.
