Classe Sigma SSP, Surround sound processor 7.1

Featured Replies

Further Information

This fine high end 7.1 channel processor does not need an introduction ha, Reason for selling is that I wanted to upgrade my home cinema to more channels.

My new JBL SDP-58 has indeed more channels but I miss my high end 2 channel audiophile quality sound of this SSP.

Kept it for a while for 2 channel but needed the space in my rack and the cash.

This is the version with the older HDMI board, but I believe you can still buy the HDMI 2.1 4k update kit for it if 4k switching is important.

I just used my HDMI input on my OPPO 203, or use a HDMI 4k switch if 4k is important and you don't want to spent the money on the updated board which is I believe about 900 or so.

Or just use it as high and preamplifier alone, can't go wrong.

Has some light scratches on the top, other sides all good

priced to sell.

Something worth considering is a Sigma 2200i which uses the same preamp circuit as this SSP but with 4k capability.  It has amplication similar to the AMP2 and sounds fantastic.  Owned one for a few years and still miss it to this day...

yes, de ssp-800 is sweet too. all depends on your needs. I was after a audiophile multi channel processor and the ssp ticked those boxes for sure.

I like separates, I have my amps and speakers for over 20 years now, but things change quick in the preamp realm.

Also I need a lot of power to drive my speakers, usually not found on AVR's

What did you buy instead of the 2200i?

Ended up going for a (used) Storm ISP Elite Mk1 plus Classe Sigma Mono's for the mains and the AMP5 for surrounds.

Good buy Seanoo! Hopefully you get Direc ART too soon.

I am happy with the sdp-58, only thing I don't like is that if you have more then 1 subwoofer you have to use channel 13+14 or 13-16 if you have 4 subs.

That's all cool but I loose the original sub channel, I wish that channel could be assigned to center height, and that middle tops can be used as VOG for Auro 3d.

Now I have a manual switch that switches those speakers between left+right middle tops (Atmos), and combine the 2 middle tops to 1 VOG and the other channel to a center height speaker for Auro3d/Imax enhanced/DTS-X.

I believe with the Storm's this can be done by the processor.

Anyways I might put a ticket in to JBL and prey it will be implemented in a future software update.
