Hi all,

I own a Leben integrated tube amp 2x 15W, and I auditioned Klipsch Heresy's that I really consider buying (Heresy 3 if important).

However, since I have a rather big living room and the Heresy's are not known for their lows, I would like to add a sub.

The only reason to do so, is use a sub that has a bypass to connect sub out to speakers.  I don't know the exact term in English, but I assume you get the point :)

My question: Is this a good way of working?  I mean... I search for high efficiency speakers, but will the sub "in between" not block this feature?  Or is it better to look for other speakers with better low end?

Thanks!

The best way to connect a quality subwoofer is in parallel with the speakers- 2 sets of speaker cable from the Leben. One running to the Klipsch and the other to the speaker level inputs of the sub

I have Heresy's (earlier version than yours) which are driven by a vintage EICO valve amplifier based on EL84'S - not so very different from your wonderful Leben amp. I have an REL T9I subwoofer utilising a Speakon high level input cable attached to the amplifier speaker terminals, with excellent results.

If you have a preamp out use that or a “y” splitter or a RCA doubler to run to your sub. Im assuming its an active sub. Get the sub balance then its volume level will follow the volume set at the amp.

Id try the Heresy by itself first. Being a high efficiency speaker they are not always known for deep bass but you may find it is more than enough.

Thank you for the comments, I think I figured it out.  Unfortunately, the deal with the Heresy's is off.  The seller was not serious apparently.  The hunt continues!
