Still in progress, currently 2.0 but will be looking to make it 2.1 in the future.

I've had the speakers for a few days and the amp arrived today, I'm still chasing a sub and preamp but I'm not in any rush. Most items will be sourced used from eBay, gumtree and marketplace.

It sounds pretty good so far, I'll update more as I get more parts to add to it at a later date.

hey @SIK looks like you got the fun factor happening.

Preamp i think will be the big upgrade, so you can control volume through that, which i think will be less "lossly" (more accurate) than volume control via your phone.

The low cost tweaks prior to that include

-no cost: place your speakers further apart (maybe you had them close just for video/photo convenience)

-vert low cost: place some felt dots or similar squishy material under the speakers (to minimise unwanted rocking or vibrations transfer)

-low cost: if not already spend a few dollars per metre on speaker cable (don't go overboard, the old Neotech 16AWG if still sold was good bang for back)

-low cost: spend $20-50 on decent interconnect between phone and (pre)amp.  Again don't go overboard, but don't cheap out with a $2 cable either.

Cheers and have fun

@2Brix thanks for the advice

Yeah they are close together just for the pic, they will normally be about 8-10 feet apart.

My old phone that I was using as a LG V20 with a quad DAC and high powered amplifier (as far as phones go), if it detects high impedance it boosts the signal but it didn't in this case, you can get 3.5mm plugs that do that but I won't bother as it's only temporary at this point. I'll be looking for some Bluetooth option after I get a preamp and sub sorted out.

I nearly have a sub lined up but the guy won't be back in the country until the the later half of next month, so I'll keep my eye out for something better that's still affordable between now and then but I don't mind waiting.

I picked up a AM/FM tuner for free, a Sony ST-JX411.

The signal is very poor, I assume it's because it says 300 ohm on the antenna connection and I dodged up some spear wire connected to some 75 ohm rabbit ears. I'll look for a cheap antenna soon.

I picked up another amplifier today, it's a AV receiver but it sound very nice. The video doesn't do it justice.

I'm not sure if I'll use it in conjunction with the AMC amp, I'll play around with it and see how they go together.

I've decided to keep the NAD amp and sell the AMC power amp and Denon preamplifier (not pictured) that turned up the other day as well.

After waiting nearly a month for a guy to return to the country to buy a subwoofer from him today hes finally home and told me it's not working, so I picked up something else temporarily.

I just wanted the sub but he was selling it in a combo with a DVD player so I took that too, unfortunately the DVD player didn't power on and I took it apart and it has a blown fuse and capacitor. He also offered me an amplifier for a reasonable price so I said yes to that too even though I don't need it, not sure what to do with it but it looks pretty.

The amp I picked up.

The DVD player

Blown fuse and capacitor in the DVD player, I was going to use it for CDs but it looks like a complicated process to pull the board out with other multiple boards in the way joined with ribbon cables and the DVD mechanism etc in the way to get to replacing the capacitor. Might just have to bin it.

The sub, not too keen on it but it's something for now. I was considering dying all the veneer black but probably won't if I'm just going to sell it again when I get something I like better.
