Extremely Rare Reference Series Pre/power combo from Pioneer. This is the advanced version with many improvements over the famous c90/m90.

PIONEER C90a Preamp:

The Pioneer C-90a, released in Japan in 1988 during the “Golden Era” of Japanese high-fidelity audio equipment, is a sleek high-quality control amplifier. It features a “simple is best” circuit topology, which provides exceptional sound.

The C-90a features a mono-construction design with a 3-transformer multi-power supply, with a high level of channel independence for components as well as the physical circuit boards, preventing cross interference. This includes the audio and video systems, which are co-isolated. The MC stage on this amp is particularly impressive, with excellent high frequency performance.

The C-90a is a superb unit, offering great sound by virtue of its design and quality of build. It was designed to be paired with the Pioneer M-90a power amp. It delivers a very articulate and accurate sound in presenting any genres . It's beautifully rich, smooth, detailed and accurate.

PIONEER M90a POWER AMP:

To compliment the amazing preamp the matching M90a Power Amp has Cast iron Dual heavy duty transformers, honeycomb heat sinks with fully insulated copper chassis. Resin cast Audio grade ELNA Capacitors with total of 96,000uf capacitance.

Three inputs available : CD Direct, Line Direct and Control amp.

The first two bypass the input stages and buffers but go through the front volume pot ; said volume and switches in fact use a long shaft and relays, respectively, to keep signal paths as short as possible.

The small front flap hides speaker pair selectors (A/B), a welcome display on/off switch and a headphones plug. Beautiful spectrum analyser for power signal instead of the regular UV meters.

A two-position switch at the back allows to select speaker's impedance, the 4 Ohm...6 Ohm position being restricted to using only one pair of loudspeakers - the M-91 is a high quality powerhouse.

Condition:

Units presents in excellent condition with gloss front face and lacquered real wood sides, one of the best looking Pioneer for sure.

It was serviced when it was imported from Japan a year ago.

A 100volts  step down transformer is required to run this combo. However you can easily get one from tortech website for around $150.

I will include a link below so you can order one from them and they post it very quickly as well.
