I really do not see what is a big deal about it - 3 hours to see how they killed a bearded man with a turban. Is that really something worth celebrating?

But...........he's no ordinary bearded-man in a turban.

He's a tricky fella that managed to evade capture for a very long time.

And he's so good at it that it took the CIA 10 long years to track him down to his Pakistani hideout.

(oh and the USD $25 Million bounty must have coerced somebody close to him to rat him out)

PS: They must love Tony Abbot in that part of the world............cause Osama got taken down in Abbottabad ;)

I have to quote a fake MLK quote that was used so many times on the internet in similar occasions:

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: Only love can do that."

In other words - people who look for enemies will always find them - regardless of how many they manage to kill. The enemy is not outside of them it is inside of them and reality is just giving them what they want. It is the basic law of the universe. There is nothing worth celebrating about that.

Decky does that mean you are going to see the film this weekend :-)

I saw it already and it is just a bit short of pathetic and rather sad. Young lives destroyed in pursuit of imaginary pride and "patriotic duty". The speech of angry CIA boss is quite illustrative - "do your job and find me someone to kill!" - seriously? Is that what being human is all about? We cannot do any better than that?

Very good movie.

Almost 3 hours long, but gripping nonetheless.

I now intend reading the novel that inspired the movie.

Recommended !!

Which book is that? "No easy day"?? I've read that one and its pretty good!

Those team 6 guys are hard core! Clandestine operations have always intruiged me.. Look forward to seeing the film!

Agreed Decky. I spent the whole movie frustrated. Waiting for the important details to come up. But as with most of these American war movies the facts seem to be left aside to make way for a better story.

Are you talking about the film or the attitudes of the characters?

Decky, if only you could convince the Jihadists to think like that.

I cannot convince anyone to see that. They have to figure it for themselves, otherwise they will just strengthen their original believes. Jihadists are living the same illusion as their western counterparts. Things are very simple - when you recognise the enemy in the "other" you become the enemy yourself - this brings endless suffering for all sides.
